Strikeforce has been putting on great fights for the last couple of years, but the one glaring omission from the action has been elbows on the ground. Probably the most deadly strike from mount or even being in the full guard, elbows can change fights and end them just as quick. Now a few years ago after elite xc failed and Strikforce really started to become a prominent promotion in mma, doctors were stopping fights a lot more due to cuts. But as the sport has matured doctors are more aware that a simple cut is part of a fight and very few fights are stopped unless a cut is serious. The fedor cut was probably the one of a few real high profile fights that was stopped due to a cut.
Lorenzo Ferttita just announced that Strikeforce from this point on will fight with the same unifed rules as the UFC thus having elbows on downed opponents... hopefully next we can get knees.
