Askren is going to out wrestle him to a decision probably.

@Reeves: That's my guess.  It's unfortunate.  For some reason, I can't seem to bring myself to like Askren and I hope the Goat can somehow pull out the victory.

I'm an Askren fan but I think that has a lot to do with me meeting him at a wrestling camp I think two years ago. He taught a 2 hour wrestling clinic and we also got a little poster from him and he signed it for me and others for team mates and he was a real cool guy. I hope he can get back to finishing fights but he has faced a big step up in competition in Bellator and he is still relatively new to the sport.

@Reeves: He doesn't seem like a bad guy...I don't know.  It probably stems from the ****-talk between him and Ryan Thomas.  He also beat Hornbuckle and I'm a big fan of his.

This doesn't seem to be a very balanced "superfight."

Askren seems like a great guy and I'm confident he'll win this fight.

The problem is the way he's going to win. I doubt he'll throw 5 strikes per round and it'll be like watching paint dry.

In his fight with Good, he put forth 0 effort to finish and was quite comfortable riding him like a chetland pony.

That's the thing that I don't get about Askren.  He's competed at the ADCC, so I assume he has, at least, mediocre submission skills.  I'm surprised he doesn't go for the subs more often.  Especially, when he has such great ability to get it to the ground.  Can you imagine Demien Maia with Askren's wrestling?

Agreed. This fight goes to the canvas very quickly and Askren will win via decision.

askren is still super green in the sport, but if he wants recognition he will have to learn to finish fights. With his top control it should not be too hard to transition to submissions or even utilize ground and pound, elbow strikes will be allowed in this match up, it will be interesting to see his game plan from the top.

This might be the fight where Askren gets an emphatic finish. Thompson has not been doing well lately, and he once stopped Eddie Alvarez with strikes; granted, that was at 170lbs, but still.

Grind grind grind. Askren really has to get some strikings/submissions if he ever wants to be successful in the UFC.

Maybe, his wrestling looks so good that he may be able to do what Jon fitch does to people in the ufc.

Comments like this is why Askren rubs me the wrong way.

Sorry its not a link.  For some reason, it doesn't seem to work for me.

I think nobody will be surprised when askren pulls of another clear UD against an opponent with up and down performances in thompson.

@HavokDM, I read that piece and was less than impressed with Ass-kren's comments. Winning is great, but if nobody wants to watch you win, then you have a problem.
I'm sure the Toledo Mudhens won lots of games last season, but who the hell cares? If you aren't popular, then nobody cares about you. If nobody cares, then nobody pays.
