Rollie Peterkin Wiki
Rollie Peterkin was born on April 13th 1987 in Wellesley, Massachusetts. Currently competing at flyweight, the American former University of Pennsylvania wrestler is based in Lima, Peru fighting out of Ivan Iberico' Pitbull Martial Arts Center. Whilst collegiate wrestling may be a common base for professional mixed martial artists Peterkin took a very uncommon path to MMA.
Peterkin's goal from a young age was to work on Wall Street, something he would achieve but eventually leave a career in finance for a career in fighting. Leaving high school Peterkin chose to attend UPenn specifically to attend the famous Wharton Business School and study finance. Furthering his aims by interning every summer with various financial firms Peterkin would graduate and go on to join the Royal Bank of Canada trading corporate bonds. In October 2013 a trip with former wrestling team mates to Peru would change Peterkin's career path and life as a whole dramatically.
Peterkin and his friends were visiting former teammate and current Bellator middleweight Ben Reiter who was training MMA in Lima whilst teaching English in Peruvian schools. Reiter had taken to Peruvian MMA like a duck to water winning the middleweight title of Peruvian MMA promotion Inka Fighting Championship. Persuaded to hit the gym with Reiter, Peterkin soon found himself rolling with some locals including gym owner, Inka Fighting Championship owner, Peruvian MMA pioneer and future coach Ivan 'Pitbull' Iberico.
Iberico was suitably impressed and told Peterkin that he could see in him that competitive itch to compete and wanted him to join Reiter training in Lima. Dismissing the notion at first Peterkin returned to America and his dream job in finance. By early 2014 Peterkin had moved to Peru to join Reiter at Pitbull Martial Arts Center. Since then the American has not looked back; scoring a pair of easy amateur wins Peterkin jumped up to the professional ranks in the same Inka Fighting Championships that gave Reiter his start. Picking up 3 wins in as many fights.
Based alongside Peruvian standouts Claudio Puelles and Fernando Roca, as well as Ben Reiter and under the watchful eye of Ivan Iberico, Peterkin looks set to follow Reiter as both a big draw in Peruvian MMA and a legitimate fighting prospect
