It's kind of amazing that all the fluids actually make their way back into the body, as opposed to just furiously forcing you to take a piss every second.

I know the whole weight cutting thing will probably never go away so I think they should have the guys step on the scale real quick before they go into the cage so we have a real idea of what they weigh when they fight

Ridiculous and I agree with poir. At least if they made fight day weights public more people would become aware and that's the 1st step. This ridiculous system will only go away when the fans demand fairness just like with PEDs.

Thiago has had his weight issues in the past, but not since he's been with Dolce...There was the time he came in at 172 or something, but on the reattempt he made the weight. As long as he's weighing in at the contracted weight I see no problem with him getting heavy again...Everyone has the same options so I don't see how it is an unfair advantage

It's unfair to any fighter who doesn't want to participate in an unhealthy system. With that perspective Soccer, everyone has the same opportunity to use steroids and HGH now since the testing is supposedly so weak but everyone cries foul about that.

How's it unfair to that fighter when they know what's gonna happen? No one signs the contract thinking the guy they're fighting is gonna be at the contracted weigh-in weight come fight night...Kampmann is from Xtreme Couture I'm sure he's upwards of 190-195 by now

I would have to agree with you mulefloyd, I mean why even have weight classes. I don't know what fighters don't cut weight but say your going to have a 170lbs match and then Thiago is like 200+ on fight day and say Kampmann doesn't cut weight and he still weighs around 170 on the day of the fight. Pointless to have a 170 weight class if your not fighting at anywhere near that weight. With that being said I don't think it will ever change really but maybe they should put a limit on it. Weigh them again before the fight and if they are like 15 pounds or more over what they originally weighed in at then dock them some pay or something.

I don't have a huge issue with it since most guys do it but it does kind of suck for someone who doesn't want to put their body through that kind of weight swing.

Steriods and HGH should be tested randomly while a fighter is under contract with an organization I believe...Not just come fight time...If the fighter isn't under contract then its a little harder unless the states that the fighters live in are gonna do it randomly for the fighter to keep a liscense

It's simple really. Just readjust the weight classes and have same day weigh-ins with a 5 lb. allowance and also have periodic weigh-ins leading up to the fight just like random drug tests.

The problem is then the amateur wrestlers won't have a size advantage.

Honestly the only thing I feel weightcutting is still around is because its been used so long in boxing and wrestling its ingrained in fight sports. If people would man up and admit that something that unhealthy is around because of history we would actually be able to go forward in having people actually fight at the contracted weight.

Instead we have guys that put in an IV (Jake Shields against Kampmann) after weigh ins to rehydrate because they either 1. want to outweight their opponent by 10 pounds or 2. screwed up their cut and that is the only option to rehydrate without killing themselves (Yes you can die from drinking too much water in too little time. Look it up).

For the love of christ. If a fighter can make the 170 limit the day before the weigh in then it should be fine. Seriously, I said this the other day, so many people are hypocrites in regards to weight cutting. They want people like Alves to move to middleweight even though with Dolce he can comfortably make the cut now, yet they scream that Edgar/Barry should move down, its ridiculous. Im not having a go at anyone in this thread, but seriously, just pick a side and stick to it.

Also, fighters who dont cut weight have their own advantage. They tend to be in better shape as they're not forced to rehydrate immediately and they tend to not be as sluggish. Some people have a natural ability to lose way more water than others yet remain healthy, who are we to take that ability away? I bet Jon Jones' reach has done way more damage than Alves weight and both meet the guidelines. (Im obviously not saying Jones should move up, just saying both have different natural advantages)

It is unhealthy and the second they have clear evidence about life span/illness/damage to fighters bodies due to cut, then there should be new guidelines.

Personally as a fan I am NOT interested in who has this ability. I am interested in who is the best fighter in their optimum physical shape.
