Bruna Brasil is a very brazilian name. It's like if an american was named Johnny Eagles.

I was watching Shauna Bannon today and believing that I was watching her pro debut vs Kerry Isom. I figured there were some good takeaways. I figured if she had gotten rid of her mom bod and tightened up her striking or perhaps just decided to avoid striking at all costs she might look decent in her later fights. She got multiple TD's with the exact same inside trip against the cage that Denise Gomes used to get Brasil down.

It wasn't until I got to near the end that I realised she has had two fights vs Isom and I was watching the latter one. That's when I lost hope in Bannon as a dog I might be interested in backing on this card.

Of course, having said that, I wont be the least bit surprised if she wins.

Pogues weighing in at 266 is interesting to me, feels like a mistake though by putting on extra weight. His one skill he had better than other heavyweights was his speed, I think trying to bulk up to match others in size is gonna be a problem for him, especially against Mick here

I dont have a great read on Parkin yet but I think Pogues coming in heavier is probably smart. Even with an extra 15-16lbs he should still have some kind of speed advantage.

I'm just guessing here, but I'm thinking Pogues is looking at Parkin as a younger, more athletic version of Parisian. I think hes kind of accepting that this fight will involve more grappling and that hes gonna need the extra weight to not get man handled.

I typically stay away from fighters who are experimenting with their weight, but heavyweight is a weird division because you have 50lbs to play around with.

@foppa420
that’s a fair take but even at heavyweight weighing 20 pounds more than your last weigh in only 5 months ago isn’t a great look to me, you can’t put on muscle in that amount of time, most of that weight is just that if I had to imagine, weight. I expect him to still be faster but taking away from your best attribute to try to even out another just doesn’t seem like the best strategy to me, I guess we shall see Saturday

Just noticed that Tybura is 5-10lbs lighter than usual, and Aspinal is at a personal record for weight. There might be a cardio strategy here to pull a decision win.

I was looking at the card to make sure there wasn't any short notice fighters on it that I missed and just realised there's been 0 cancellations for this card. How often does that happen for a 15-fight card? I can't recall ever seeing that before since covid.

You know what that means, minimal ad-breaks.

Bam Bam? Isn't there like 4 of them in the UFC? Is there one on this card? To me Bam Bam is Tai Tuivasa but it seems like this is such an amazing nickname that multiple fighters want it.

Prediction Comments

Predictions: 8 of 15 Winners, 4 Perfect, 550 Points   |   Tied for 2792nd

Aspinall vs. Tybura
Tom Aspinall, TKO, R1
If Tybura wins I will kill myself

McCann vs. Stoliarenko
Molly McCann, TKO, R1
Solid stand up. Julija has to take Molly down. Molly should get scrappy and break her down.

Wood vs. Fili
Nathaniel Wood, TKO
Fili is so open with his legs. Wood has great leg kicks. Woods striking looked so good against Jourdain. You have to finish Wood and I don't think Fili can.

Muniz vs. Craig
André Muniz, DEC
Craig doesn't have a chin. Worst striking matchup in UFC history. Craig wins when his opp takes him down. Muniz can keep this standing and out point him.

Herbert vs. Ziam
Jai Herbert
Herbert needs to build some momentum. Fares Ziam has talent but never really shows that edge I think he has. There are moments in Jai's career where he shows excellence but doesn't capitalize.

Murphy vs. Culibao
Lerone Murphy, DEC
Murphey needed to shake off some cobwebs. Took Santos fight after getting his by a vehicle and still pulled it out. Culibao isn't that great. Murphy should be composed and not leave any openings. Find top position and out point him.

Grant vs. Marcos
Davey Grant, DEC
Grant will get caught eventually but I don't think the hesitant Marco will land that shot.

Roberts vs. Parsons
Danny Roberts, DEC
terrible fight. who cares

Diakiese vs. Alvarez
Joel Alvarez
Alvarez only lost to Tsarukyan who is a monster and beat Thiago Moises. Marc looked horrendous against MJ. Marc's recent win came against guys who have no clue how to wrestle.

Parkin vs. Pogues
Mick Parkin, TKO
Parkin is young and coming off of a year away. He should have made the improvements needed to continue to improve upon his stellar ability to get back to his feet.

Vieira vs. Kianzad
Ketlen Vieira, DEC
Kianzad hasn't beat anyone of note. Vieira should have a new found confidence in her ability to get a title after Nunes has left.

Duncan vs. Ashmouz
Yanal Ashmouz, TKO, R1
Yanal showed some good stuff against Patterson. Duncan had one of the worst debut wins in UFC history. Duncan also struggles in most fights before winning somehow. I don't see him doing that to Yanal.

Brasil vs. Bannon
Shauna Bannon, DEC
Bannon has some solid wins against undefeated opps. Bruna has a head kick and outside of that she gets tore up against people who pressure her. Shauna has that undefeated confidence and should come forward thru the fight

Filho vs. Barez
Jafel Filho, SUB, R1
Filho looked great against Mokaev. Almost took his leg off. Barez only really has wrestling prowess and going to the ground with Filho could end up being a mistake.
