UFC 142 is coming to you live tonight from that mysterious yet seemingly awesome place called Rio. Jose Aldo defends his belt against Chad Mendes in a compelling featherweight main event.

Things are scheduled to kick off at AROUND 7:30 eastern time for a single prelim fight on Facebook.com/UFC.  Then at 8:00 eastern time you can catch 4 fights for free on FX (for the first time, FX, not Spike!) . Finally at 10:00pm eastern time, plunk down your hard earned dollars to watch the Pay Per View main card.

Your prediction results and leaderboard ranking will automatically show up in any posts made here. If you want to embed your full listing of picks you can do that also.   Your picks, as well as a link to embed the image, and the top of the site-wide leaderboard will all be available in the right column on this thread.

God, Brazilians are the worst fans in MMA. Sure, they're amazing fans...if you are from Brazil. They're just really ****** to the rest of the MMA community.

Its no different from American crowds chanting USA when their fighters are fighting, or when Etim was fighting in the UK :P It makes the atmosphere so much better

I don't mind a little nationalism, as long as you can still recognize that sometimes the local boy just isn't as good as his opponent.  Doesn't mean you can't root for him though.

my take so far

Carvallho-Arantes

rd 1:  10-9 Carvallho;  takedown, controlled the grappling front head lock with knees delivered tipped the round in his favor

rd 2:  Arantes 10-9 controlled the stand up, stuffed the take downs.  

rd 3:  10-9 Arantes, Takedown, good GnP and really picked a gassed Carvallho apart on feet to close the fight.
