Ricardo Funch Wiki
After running his professional record to 7-0 on the local circuit, Ricardo Funch, who trains out of Team Link with UFC heavyweight veteran Gabriel Gonzaga, was invited to join the UFC in 2009, where he lost back-to-back fights to fellow prospects Johny Hendricks and Claude Patrick which prompted his release from the promotion.
After a win on the regional circuit, Funch was invited back to the UFC as a late replacement for Paulo Thiago against Mike Pyle at UFC 142. Although Funch lost that fight via first round TKO, he was given one last chance in the form of a fight with Dan Miller, who was making his welterweight debut, at UFC on FX 4. Funch was winning the fight going in to third round, however, Miller was able to drop Funch with a punch. A rocked Funch tried to take down Miler which allowed him to secure a guillotine choke that forced Funch to tap. After this Funch was once again released from the UFC.
