I think Volk and Islam at both at least top 15 of all time, Don't know how Islam or Volk loses for a while(in they’re division), Suprise how well rounded both were, Volk stopping Islam grappling for the most part and Islam keeping up with Volk on the feet, Both is really impressive IMO,
I don't think it was a robbery, Maybe if it was scored as a whole, Volk got "robbed", But round for round I think it was just a close ass fight, You have to be nuts to discredit either man for they're performance

Volk was robbed in the sense that he should have won the decision based on the scoring criteria the judges are supposed to apply.
Volk won round 4 which all judges incorrectly scored for Islam. Despite Islam holding the most dominant grappling position for 3 minutes he was unable to do anything other than control the position and he wasn't even particularly effective in that regard as Volk was able to let off 40+ landed strikes in this position. If Islam had sunk a choke arm at any point you'd probably be able to award him the round based on fight ending sequence potentially but he did not and so cannot be awarded the round as the stand up was equal prior.

Remember when Andrew said Islam Makhachev by finish was a lock guys? And said that I was an ******* and idiot for pontificating about how that's not a safe bet based of past performances vs Islam? Time for Andrew to learn his place, he squawks too much.

Honestly I think ppl set the bar too high for Islam and too low for Volkanovski. Call me stupid for having this opinion but I'll die on this mountain alone with this opinion

You've got it wrong, round 4 was definitely Makhachev's round, per Effective Striking & Grappling. Those weak backwards punches Volk kept throwing while laying down are much less relevant than Islam taking Volk's back, having 4:30 minutes of control time, and attempting the RNC. I'm glad the rules change to discourage laying and praying, but too often that's been misinterpreted as control time meaning absolutely nothing. Luckily the judges knew better that night.
Volk is one of the greats, but Makhachev isn't getting the credit he deserves. Leading up to this fight, many called Volk possibly the best stand up striker in UFC history. And Makhachev just out struck him on the feet for at least 3 rounds.

He definitely won on these rules, just not impressive at all considering how rounds 3, 4 and 5 went for him, good showing tho either way for both men
e: ok, gotta say objectively impressive as it is Volk in the end, just not as expected by many

Well the main reason why he isn't getting any credit is he went into this fight as the supposedly best fighter the world has ever seen, the evolution of Khabib, not just the best grappling ever but also a striking game to match. The guy who was supposed to ragdoll, outmuscle, outgrapple and completely smash and choke out Volk inside 2 rounds tops by 95% of this forum.
As TLRulebender stated, the bar was set too high for Islam and too low for Volk who was just shrugged off as a 145 midget with no wrestling or ground game.
Both dudes definitely deserve credit, 15+ win streaks, dominant performances over championship fighters, both have a full MMA game developed... I was shocked how many people thought this was just gonna be another quick night in the office.
Hope we get to see more of these super high level fights down the line.

Scores for all the fights released:
https://mmajunkie.usatoday.com/gallery/ufc-284-perth-australia-official-scorecards-photos-gallery-mmaI didn't get an answer yesterday about how Pedro's fight went. Seems I was right after all when I said before the fights to look live if he won the first round and it went long. Would have made more money staying home and betting probably. But getting fired from a steady income is probably not worth it..yet.

Pedro came out ready for exactly 300 seconds of fighting, was a very poor display imo

Keep your mouth shut bum, i said most of my bet was on ML and I cashed out the ITD bet at end of round 2 without losing anything. I still made a lot of money on this card but I'll admit Volk did better on the ground than I expected. Even gods can make mistakes sometimes...your existence is proof of that.
Also why is lisac not suspended yet for telling people to kill themself?

This means we will get better odds on Islam's next fight which he will win. Beneil = Easy. Fiziev = Easy. Gaethje = Easy. Inshallah.

tbh we set the bar for Volk rly low, not lower than we did for Jan Błachowicz at UFC 282

Ironically volk done more damage on the ground and islam done more damage in the feet. This is the most backwards card I’ve ever watched in terms of every fight going the opposite way that you’d expect it to but the favourites still winning. I’m not discrediting volk but to me it’s pretty clear khabib is much better than Islam when it comes to the grappling department and cardio. I still think Charles beats him in a rematch if he fights a smarter fight. He did defend takedown attempts

That's true if they rematch I won't be laying so much on Islam again.
