85% of heavyweights don't grapple. They don't look like they know that such thing as 'ground game' or 'takedown' exist in the first place. So I don't think that's much of the case. From nonames to Parisian, jumping to Acosta, I believe there could of been better ways to get him ranked instead of Acosta fight. High risk, if you really trying to boost the guy. Acosta looked good in the Arlovski bout. Ppl just don't wanna admit it, cuz he was disrespectful & didn't ko him. Sucks that he's 35 but there's so many examples of fighters getting a big jump in HW and failing to meet expectations. This isn't looking like an exception either.

@random knowledge is right. I imagine this was given to Waldo because he disrespected Arlovski and also because he is a legitimate test versus Parisian. If/When Robelis demolishes him, I would bet on another quick turnaround against a guy like Alexander Romanov (if he would even take it) or I could see another Gaziev type main event against Derrick Lewis even. At this point, Lewis likely knows he won't get a title shot and the UFC would probably offer him a ton of money to face Despaigne. Would be a great main event.

The ufc has settled in the current lawsuit they are facing. They will be paying the defendant 335 million (tax deductible btw) and will not have to make changes to the business practice. Not a good look for the people who were hoping for positive results, especially since ufc will actually benefit from this payment since they will get a tax reduction on it. 335 million is also not much money at all for the ufc, probably about one quarters worth of business

Dong makes sense since she was rumored to have signed with the ufc last year. I imagine puja tomar and maybe so yul kim with get shots as well, especially since both were signed to the ufc at one point last year

Donn Davis on the mma hour

He says the plan is to do Renan vs Ngannou no later than September in Saudi. Says they will get doumbe on the card and co main will (hopefully) be pachecho vs cyborg

He also said doumbe will be fighting on the may 17th Bellator card. Very possible it’s the Baki rematch

Thad jean is fighting Romain debienne at the Chicago event. I saw Ty Johnson got signed by the pfl a few weeks ago so I’m assuming he is fighting Jordan Oliver on that same card. Both will be in the showcase bouts on that same card
