I don't see Big Roy getting finished but Werdum will take a lopsided decision just like Roys last 2 losses 30-27.. I think it will be much like the Mir fight with Werdum controlling him on the ground.

While Werdum is a 2nd degree black belt, effective BJJ in MMA is a completely different animal. I also doubt Werdum's ability to take Roy down and think his striking is overrated mostly due to being able to hit Overeem which actually isn't that hard.

I'll probably pick Roy by decision.

Don't think anyone would be suprised if Werdum pulls of a sub, but if Nelson keeps on like he looked like against CroCop, Nelson should get a KO

I love this bout. The only thing that worries me is that it turns into a standup match. I want to see some entertaining high level grappling.

Meant to respond to this topic instead of making an extra one. I'm intrigued by this match because it's exactly what Roy Nelson asked for (a top HW contender) and he's actually shown some motivation and heart that could find him a way to stand in with Werdum. However, Nelson just isn't a top 5 HW fighter and is going to be up against a much more skilled opponent. A loss essentially ends the storyline for Nelson while a win could propel him into top 10 lists everywhere and earn him a legit shot a true contender.

Honestly, I think Werdum's a tad bit overrated like Bigfoot Silva.

Yes his losses are to top-level competition, but his wins aren't. He beat Fedor who was starting to decline, he beat Bigfoot Silva who's only beat a declining Fedor as well & he beat Brandon Vera who turned out to be..mediocre.

I just can't envision Werdum winning, but if he does I'll start to give him more credit for sure.

Nelson has pretty high level BJJ himself and he throws ridiculously hard punches.  Werdum is probably the superior athlete, but I don't think he does any one thing much better than Nelson other than maybe cardio.  With Roy dropping weight, he may not even have that anymore.  I could be wrong, but I don't see Werdum having many ways to win here, and Roy would definitely be in my top 10 with a win.

i see roy taking it, im not saying hes going to out grapple werdum but i think his bjj is good enough to survive on the ground, but i dont think werdum can do the same on the feet.

This fight confuses the hell out of me. I might take Nelson by decision, because I don't have much faith in SF fighters and I think Nelson could pressure him pretty well. We'll see though, I'd rather Werdum take it because Nelson thinks too highly of himself.

Well we have 2 fighters riding on a lot of hype of being beaten by good fighters. I'm suprised so many people pick Nelson. I'm really curious how will Werdum fare in the UFC.

A in shape Roy Nelson could be REALLY dangerous but i think Fabricio will be looking to make a big impression in his first fight back.

An in-shape Roy Nelson beat Frank Mir in BJJ.. just sayin'.

I know he's happy where he's at, and there is nothing wrong with that.. but there is so much more potential in Roy Nelson.

Either way, I still like watching him fight.
