@jody neither could Lesnar ... he almost broke his neck. But seriously that HIAC with Taker was badass.

1 - He just won the UFC Heavyweight title. Of course he's going to be #1. Oh and he won in devestating fashion.

2 - He just lost his UFC heavyweight title. Of course he's going to be #2. Oh and he lost in devestating fashion.

3 - He's been on a roll, even if his perfomances and match-ups have varied widely.

4 - Despite inactivity, he remains in the top five. Before his devestating loss he was on a roll. His match with Overeem will determine if he goes higher or drops beneath Cormier and Barnett.

5 - Made a hugestatement by taking out the guy who took out Fedor. This alone puts him ahead of Barnett. Plus he's been very impressive in his run in Strikeforce.

6 - The Assassin (I don't like his new nickname) has shown why we missed Barnett and kinda forgive him for killing a company. He has a better fight resume then Cormier overall but Rogers and Kharitonov don't quite equal "The guy who beat Fedor" (Antonio "Junior" Silva) in the grand scheme of things.

7 - Eh...He beat a way past his prime Cro Cop and a Roy Nelson who was ill. But regardless he's one of the few Heavyweights in the UFC who's actually on a winning streak.

8 - He lost to Overeem in odd fashion but is still in a better position then all the other fighters. Plus before his lost he shot up the rankings by giving Fedor is first lost (and no it wasn't a fluke).

9 - Two losses should see a guy drop out but they were two very tough losses against two of the very best in the UFC heavyweight division. So he has a point of being in the top 10.

10 - The Strikeforce ****roach. He isn't suppose to be on a 3 fight winning streak, hell he was meant to be a scraficial offering/stepping stone to Bobby Lashley. Instead he lived up to his nickname and pretty made Ladhley's MMA career dead and has continued to gain new fans. Because we all love an underdog.

aside from the obvious swap of JDS and Cain I bumped Barnett ahead of Werdum and Cormier..I still think Cormier's win over Silva is more significant than Barnett's over Kharitionov though

Here's mine and obviously #2,4, & 5 are on "injury probation". Based on who they lost to they're all still top 5 but based on how they looked in those losses, they all need impressive wins in their next bouts.

Seriously, no logic in not having JDS #1.  The rest of the list is always up for debate.  In the eloquent words from one of the greatest shows ever made -- "If you come at the king, you best not miss"  and, until you beat the champ, "The king stay the king."  No justification for not having Dos Santos #1 in the rankings.

@RW - True, but I'm not sure how you can rank Lesnar above Cain, since in Lesnar's last fight, he lost the title to Cain.

Every other ranking on the list can be disputed to no end.  I honestly overlooked the fact that I had placed Cain below Lesnar, but in all honesty the argument could be made that when Cain lost his title, he dropped below the next two contenders.  The winner of Lesnar vs. Overeem becomes the #2 heavyweight, and then Cain will have to fight the loser to get back within contender status.  Like I said, every thing below #1 is up for debate.

@Mike You shouldn't do a "top 10" based on what people think but what YOU think. If you think Cormier AND Barnett are ahead of Lesnar then do it. We may call you out on it but then every one's list can also be called out and questioned. For the love of God I have Chad Griggs in my top 10.

@RWL ...That's actually quite a solid reasoning though not enough for me to drop Cain any lower then #2. Will the loser of Lesnar/Overeem be ranked lower then Cain or is that still to be dertermined after the fight has happened?
