It feels like this is a daily thread. Josh was one of the first "bad guys" in mma. He had a great career and i feel like he fell in that trap with fitch and a few of the other wws of his era in that they could have been champion if it weren't for gsp. Glad josh has interests outside of mma and hopefully he coaches wrestling. I never cared for the way he carried himself, but he was able to create that true animosity in his fights.

Well yeah, no chance to be champ but I wouldn't call Koscheck garbage.
He never beat anyone great, but he never lost to a can either. Middle-of-the-road fighter is the best description I feel. He was at least exciting, and you knew he was either going to put someone's lights out or get his lights put out most of the time.
He's definitely a wanker though and thoroughly unlikeable in general.

I don't know. I don't want to cheapen GSP's 2 wins. I felt like when Kos fought for the belt, he was the most deserving. It's just that at that time, GSP was operating on another level when compared to his competition at WW.
If you looked at WW top 10 then, anyone of the top guys could beat the others. It's just that Georges was so much better at the time. He was the most complete fighter.

Lost 6 in a row.
Unless he was willing to do what Jeremy Horn and Dan Christison did, it was time to go.
And there are eerie comparisons between Koscheck and Rashad Evans, who just retired after losing 5 in a row - in that both left their long-time camps after, to put it charitably, lame disputes - Koscheck with Javier Mendez and Rashad with Greg Jackson. At least Rashad went to South Florida though. Where did Koscheck go - Fresno?

Jeremy Horn is one of the most underrated fighters ever. Even after his UFC run, he sitll taking on legit guys. I mean he took it to Thale Leites were Leites made his way back into the top 10 in the world. Jeremy Horn is no joke. Alsdo the dude has a straight up inhuman chin

@NoMoneyForYou, Kos in his prime was one of the best wrestlers to grace the octagon and stayed top 10 for awhile. That being said, he was obviously a mixed guy with mental issues.

Kos always came off as a ****, but in his prime he definitely was a very legit, championship level fighter.

I can not up or downvote here anymore but I just want to say how hilarious some of you are when making serious conversation and how transparent it is you weren’t really following mma or were too young to get it is. Kos was a legit top 2-5 welterweight for a while. Total prick and was too stubborn to fight smart enough to win some that he lost but he had an excellent shot in his power double and chain wrestle very well. He KOd a few guys and thought he was a striker though.
Gregor Gillespie broke all his Records at Edinboro wrestling though and I’m curious to see how far he takes his mma career. Kos probably would’ve won a title without GSP IMO.

loudainswain, I agree, if GSP wasn't around Kos would've held the belt during his heyday.

Wrestling and jujitsu are created for people who cant fight on the feet like a man.
To say he could've been a champ is sad. He was not a champ.
If he could've been he would have been. He made a career from talking ****.
Good riddance

Well I don't totally disagree money. I will always prefer a good standup battle as opposed to dryhumping and fence grinding, which bores the **** out of me and the vast majority of MMA fans. Anyone wants to watch a man lay between another man's legs for fifteen minutes is in all probability just not out of the closet yet.
I can tolerate if if there is damaging being landed in guard and good GNP in general but no staright man wants to see Colby Covington, for example, rub his nuts on somebody's thigh/sniff **** against the fence for 4 1/2 minutes of every round.

Lol ha ha yeah. I say it in a crass way. Of course watching a good wrestler or bjj guy do damage and put
On a clinic is good if its entertaining. To many wrestlers just wanna grind out a boring win. Sums up koscheck
Aside from a lucky ko or two.

No offense Swain. Every fight fan who has trained a particular martial art will always want to see that martial art represented more than any other in MMA most of the time. For me it's Boxing. It's a psychological attitude that you can't erver really escape, y'know.

I’m not sure why you posting painfully obvious yet completely irrelevant statements would offend me. It’s moreover another +1for the adorable factor
