A lot more clearly, Schaub dropped him on his neck with the overhand, Mir couldn't finish him until the third round.  Even Dana White said it was one of the worst main events of 2010.  Mir is an average fight in my opinion, he will never hold the title again, and Carwin is so much more consistent than Mir.  I don't know how you can deny, Carwin's last 2 opponents were on a different level than Mir's.  He was dominating Brock and he was tagging JDS in a fight that no one thought would go to decision.  Plus he knocked Mir out.

Eh awkward moment when Schaub actually finished Cro Cop around the same time Mir did..? So dont get what your point is Cro Cop was winning the fight against Schaub when he got knocked out, He wasnt winning against Mir.

SInce when has it been such an  accomplishment to beat Cro Cop.  Call me when Mir fights a top 5 heavyweight, which he clearly is not.  You still have Travis Browne in your top 10 lol.

He's fighting Big Nog next, I think he wins that fight.  We'll see where he stands after that, no fight in sight for Carwin yet.  I could justify putting Mir in the top 5 if he finishes Big Nog and kicking Carwin out due to inactivity.

Cain and JDS are obvious. Reem's only fight with anyone near the top 10 was the lackluster win over Werdum. No I don't count Rogers. Still unproven cardio, chin, TDD. Brock lots of holes but great competition and has 2-2 record vs. current top 10. Carwin's lost 2 straight but to #s 2 & 4. Dropping him due to inactivity would be premature imo. Werdum's in the same boat as Antonio Silva, both of their current ranks are due mostly to their wins over Fedor. At least Silva looked like he wanted to fight his last time out. Mir beat Nog. He finished him. No matter what you think will happen in the rematch, until then ranking Nogueira above Mir makes no more sense than ranking Mir above Carwin, both of which ignore results.

Reem 3rd to 8th. You could make a good case he hasn't proven to be better than anyone in top 10 other than Werdum and via MMAmath, Silva.

Brock 3rd to 6th. Same argument that the 1-dimensional Lesnar hasn't shown the skill to be ranked above Reem, Werdum, Barnett, or Cormier (Silva maybe but with the KO loss probably not)

Carwin no higher than 4th as over Mir. It just seems silly to disregard recent results among consensus top 10ers.

The wild card is Cormier. Still unbeaten, you could theoretically put him as high as 2 or as low as 11 (Nog). While I think results should count, should we still consider Fedor ahead of Nog? What about Nog over Werdum? All decision victories at least 5 yrs old.

Ok done rambling

@mulefloyd.. But since Carwin beat Mir, Carwin has gone 0-2 and Mir has gone 2-0 and has a fight lined up with Big Nog. That makes him above in my opinion.

Mir beat CroCop and Nelson while Carwin lost to Lesnar and JDS. Both are ranked above Nelson and CroCop and both are below Lesnar and JDS. Your reasoning is the type that made Jorge "Can Crusher" Santiago a consensus top 10 MW when he absolutely did not deserve it. I agree that Carwin has been exposed as far as well roundedness goes but only by the #2 and #4 HWs, while Mir has looked good against the shell of CroCop (scratch the look good, he just won) and an ill Nelson. I just have a problem with ranking someone ahead of someone they've beaten, especially recently, as long as they're in the same general range.

An ill Nelson.. Do the excuses ever stop? Mir had a broken jaw and rib.

:) Mir had a broken jaw and rib because of the fight. Nelson was documented to have walking pneumonia. Not saying don't count the win but you're saying rank Carwin below someone he KOed in the 1st rd because that person has now won a whopping 2 in a row over opponents that Carwin would be favored over.

Also I notice you pick on the excuse for Nelson but leave alone Mir's "awesome" win over CroCop. Is that because you fell asleep during that fight also?

Couldn't have said it better myself mule.  I was psyched to see Carwin vs JDS and Carwin vs Lesnar which both turned out to be exciting fights.  I went out of my way to not buy the Mir vs Cro Cop card and caught it at a friends house and I was only excited to see Nelson vs Mir because I wanted Nelson to destroy Mir.
