There is something poetic about McGregor going in recklessly and eating a massive counter.

He just needs more time to get used to the weight, he jumped two weight classes after all. Name one other champion who has done this, saved the card for sure. Unfortunately, i don't favour Nate that much in dos anjos 2. Nice feather in nates hat though. Hopefully they start to pay the poor boy more than 20/20 now lol

Well, no more shot at the #155 title, does Conor go back to 145 and fight Frankie?

Not enough sparring and training with other great fighters and coaches, too much pool noodles and touch butt with Ido Portal.

Somewhat of a blessing in disguise, Conor can actually defend his Featherweight belt now and not **** up one of the best divisions in the sport. You could tell at 170, and I'd assume at 155 too, to a relevant extent he can't eat punches with his hands down and beat his opponents down while taunting them so easily, his kicks have very little authority or effectiveness, and his punches realistically did not command nearly as much respect either. Also, Conor did not adapt all that well or show that he can fight effectively in all these different ways like everyone boasts about...it was the same exact McGregor trying to be a bully at 170 that did it at 145...

Dos Anjos would have taken his head clean off, clean off.

I like Conor and I'm glad he was humble in defeat... which I knew he would be. But I like Nate a hell of a lot more. That was beautiful!

@Nomad To be fair to McGregor he was clearly beating Nate until two minutes before the finish. I expected him to lose this one, but keep in mind that fighting two weight classes is an aberration and that this loss doesn't really have much to do with his skills at featherweight and even lightweight.

^Don't be a homer. McGregor wasn't clearly beating ****. The fight was pretty close up to that point, even if McGregor had the slight edge.

@Anik 1) What is a "homer"?
   2) I picked Nate. I expected Nate to win and in fact was rooting for him.
   3) McGregor was CLEARLY beating Nate until a couple of minutes before the finish. He probably wasted energy doing that, tho.
  4) @Nomad Hell yes, RDA would have taken his head off. But I'd pick RDA to take anyone's head off at this point.

DAYUM!

**** was crazy.

Conor was swinging wild out the gate, which he hasn't done before. Mayhaps Diaz did get in his head a bit. Great finish by Nate.

But don't turn this into a "he was never any good" thing, as MMA fans are want to do. Aldo is still top 5 all-time despite the loss to Conor, and Conor still has all of his wins despite this loss.
