rappingpapsoda, you are absolutely right. Silva won the third and the fifth but he let the fourth slip though his fingers. The more i rewatch the fight the more i believe that he lost that round because he truly did believe at the end of the third that the fight was over. I don't know why though, since he should have heard the horn signaling the end of the round.

I get what ppl mean when they say Anderson looked like he could have done more, but are we forgetting we've seen this out of him before? Even in his prime?

The Leites and Maia bouts are perfect examples of a fighter who does not have many ways to create offense when his opponent doesn't give him clean openings. Silva is the best counter-striker in MMA history, bar none, but his offensive striking is merely good, not incredible; even the flying knee he landed on Bisping came in a moment of opportunity that Bisping created by looking away and losing focus ... it was not something Anderson set up.

The clowning, etc. Anderson does in the cage usually sets up counter-striking opportunities, but when the rare opponent faces him that can keep from over-extending (Maia, Leites, Weidman, Diaz, Bisping and hell, even Patrick Cote) he finds himself in either super boring, uneventful wins where he pot-shots his way to a decision (Maia, Leites, Diaz) or actually gets roughed up trying to force offensive opportunities (Weidman, Bisping.)

He probably could have poured it on more, but he was rocked in the first and dropped in the second by Bisping, both after attacking with flurries. The Brit earned his respect and some healthy caution.

I do think Anderson thought he was winning the fight after that knee, and if he "took a round off," it was the 4th. But I do not think he could have just finished Bisping by trying harder.

I think Anderson took it over the top with idiocy and ****iness last night. He stood against the damn fence for an entirety of the 4th round, taking shots in the face. In the 5th round when he almost had Bisping out of there he let his foot off the pedal, twice.

He was throwing sloppy haymakers the 1st half of the fight and his counter-striking was completely off. His skills have absolutely diminished greatly, as seen by him getting dropped by Bisping, punches that a prime Anderson would have eaten like candy.

I think if Anderson re-watches this fight, he will cringe, he could have and should have done more. I expected more from a guy who pulled off the greatest upset of all time against Chael.

Just curious of what you guys think though, should there be a rematch or do you want it?

I say yes, location is irrelevant to me.

Sick of immediate rematches. I don't consider this a controversial fight.

Also dislike the Weidman-Rockhold rematch.

@Skelli, You're sick of 'em because they don't make the rematches that they should. I agree that Rockhold vs Weidman II is a stupid match to make when Rockhold won pretty decisively, especially in the latter half of the fight.

@boredoms, Give Bisping a title shot so he can lose to Rockhold again? meh, Anderson wasn't likely going to get a title shot with a win over Bisping, and since Rockhold is champ and smashed Bisping, there's no point to giving him that.

They should have made Rockhold vs Vitor II. And now Jacare vs Bisping for the next shot.

Objectively I agree that Rochhold vs Belfort 2 makes more sense. It really is a shame that Romero is out of the mix. I don't mind that Weidman is getting the rematch but it is only because im a huge Weidman fan. In all fairness, it shouldn't be happening.

I'd love Bisping to get a title shot ... but seeing him beefin with Nick Diaz on Twitter tonight makes me sorta want that one more.

Book it.

Maybe Conor can fight Bisping for a shot at Luke Rockhold.

@Mikeg

that not accurate of Skel views of rematches. He does not want this rematch because he does not think it warranted. He only wants warranted rematches. He called for the carlos vs Robbie rematch. So it has nothing to do with UFC throwing rematches down are throats.

Exactly! It's not that rematches suck and shouldn't happen, it's that immediate rematches are usually the wrong move.

Diaz vs Bisping should headline a fox card. But we all know you can't put the Diaz Bros on live tv.
