I'm going with BJ in the upset here. I think about what BJ did in the Sanchez fight and in the first round in his first fight against GSP. I think he could outclass Fitch on the feet. If Fitch can't find him, press him against the cage and look for takedowns he could get into real trouble.

huge fan of both, can't pick a winner, I see BJ winning with boxing or jitz, I see Fitch doing the same with his wrestling. Too many variables here, gonna wait to see how the fighters look at weigh-ins to lock in my predictions.

Fitch is gonna be at least 20 pounds bigger than BJ, and will have a reach advantage.  This is a defining p4p type fight for BJ, he has the chance to let ability trump physical disadvantages.  I think he can tap Fitch, R2.

I just fell off of my office chair laughing at the Penn vs Fitch MK pic! that is awesome @GDPof FPR. Then Penn as Goro is perfect seeing as how his legs are like a second set of arms. Could we get a Siver vs Sot or Bisping vs Rivera?

Really.. my mind is telling me to take Fitch by decision. It's the smart thing to do.

My gut is screaming at me to take Penn, I like him at welterweight he is much faster then any WW and I think he can hurt Fitch.

should listen to your mind on this one tacoma...fitch isnt gonna beat gsp EVER, but he is a dominant wrestler who can take penn down at will and is very good at maintaining control for entire rounds...i see ANOTHER lackluster win for fitch that keeps him away from a title shot AGAIN....after this fight, if fitch wins, i want to see him against another high level wrestler/takedown specialist...perhaps dong hyun kim.

I disagree, Penn will pose a lot of problems that Fitch has not seen before. Everyone is talking like BJ Penn is washed up..

The only reason he is not the champ is because Edgar had the perfect style to beat him. Really, I think this will be a good fight, because Fitch will have nothing in the stand up for Penn.

You also forget Jersey, Penn has some of the best BJJ in the game.

BJ has amazing takedown defense, but I still feel that Fitch will be able to get him down, wrap him in a blanket and snuggle up for the win.

Just don't see Penn winning this fight. He gets frustrated easily and Fitch will execute his classic "lying on top" of you technique for a decision. Although, I would love to see Penn knock Fitch out I just don't see it happening.

@jsebag I'm with you my head says Fitch wins this fight, because of his controlling style, but the gut says Penn is gonna get the finish here...regardless its gonna be a tough fight for either guy and they will have earned their shot at the 170 belt.

When was the last time any of u guys remember BJ's BJJ being a factor in a fight. First post here, long time sherdogger....was getting old. I mean subing someone in a fight....Joe Daddy was it. I think he shocks some people here with a rear naked in the first. If that doesn't happen....Fitch via decision is a safe bet.

good to have you samson.  on the bottom i would say he's pretty overrated - other than taking hughes's back from bottom in the 2nd round in their second fight, i can't remember him doing anything from bottom in years.

but on top bj is still great.  rnc subs against jens pulver, joe daddy, and kenny florian all starting from top position.  quite impressive imo.

Going with my heart a little bit more than my head. I do think Penn will have a boxing advantage, and if he comes with good footwork and movement he could prevent Fitch from turning this into a wrestling match.

Fitch grinds out a UD. I could see Penn catching him early but Fitch surviving to UD
