Yes, bad movies.  I don't think they could ever make a great adaption.

Of course they could. There were 3 good-to-great Alien movies, an awesome Predator movie, some good comic books and a bunch of good-to-great games. A great AvP movie was certainly possibly, it would probably just require a Hollywood budget and non-Hollywood people.

In either case, the theme is not about the movies, but like Greg noticed, the franchise(s) in general.

The rivalry wasn't limited to chess either.
