I haven't seen Kawajiri fight but I think he will certainly be in for a frustrating challenge with Clay 'jumping bean' Guida.

Kawajiri's probably the better grappler/wrestler. That should give him the edge over Guida.

I could see Kawajiri winning the first and start to slow down in the second, the pace Guida puts out is going to be the test that Kawajiri will need to beat, I really like this fight but i think Guida will pull away and win the close decision.

By pace, you mean running away? Because if so,  then yes Guida has a frenetic pace.

I remember there was a time when Clay Guida actually fought. After the Bendo loss, he became uber dodgy and safe. The Pettis win had interesting, but Pettis made that fight interesting by constantly going for SUBS.

@wish. Very true, but at least he went on the attack and didn't run away from Pettis. I'll take a Jon Fitch over a Kalib Starnes ANY day.

amp, in no way was Guida any less defensive in the Pettis fight than he was in the Maynard fight. He landed many more offensive moves vs. Maynard. TDs are not always offense. Since I know you won't agree, please list what offense Guida accomplished vs. Pettis? At least he hit Gray in between bounces especially in the earlier rounds.

Kawajiri is the better wrestler and striker.  Guida will have to do his dance routine and hope for the best.

@mule. He landed a takedown in every round and held Pettis there for almost 5 min each time. He had to have had at least 10 minutes of top control. That's more action to me than running away from Maynard for 25 minutes.

I get what you are saying because he didn't do much with his top position. The way I look at it is Guida was more offensive in his attack against Pettis and fought more defensively against Maynard.

One thing is for sure. Guida used to be one of my favorite lightweights, especially after the Sanchez fight. I couldn't care less about him now if he's gonna continue fighting like that.

Kind of shocking what Tatsuya did to Thomson when you look at Joshs performances afterward that....
