Brandao Confirms He Wanted to Stab Poirier

There's so much funny stuff in this interview. First he Tweeted he made weight for the fight the day before the weigh ins and then he says he couldn't make weight or train because of the car accident.

"He was there, bouncing at the weigh-ins, staring at me. I told him backstage 'if you ever do that again, I’ll stab you with a pen.’ That’s what happened," Brandao said.

"Every time he saw me at the hotel he kept staring at me, and I responded asked what was the problem, if he looking like that because he was hungry or what. When he got inside the cage I saw he was scared. He got lucky (to win)."

"I have a lot of things to change, including the way I speak, my personality," he said. "People think I'm an ignorant man, but I'm a funny guy. But when I get inside that cage, I'm fighting for my family and my career. It's hard to explain. I'm still learning, and I will be at the Top 10 one day.

"A drunk man hit my car, and I ended up crashing in another car," he said. "I had to go to my lawyer. (The other driver) didn't want to pay the costs to fix my car. I did my best, I was a warrior just to step inside that cage. Any other fighter would just run away, but I needed that."

"I couldn’t run, I couldn’t cut weight to fight," he said. "I had injuries in my back and ribs, but I went there and fought. I don’t think I trained more than five times for this fight and I knocked him down twice in the first round."

"Sean Shelby was pissed off, but he understood when I showed him the photos of my car," Brandao said. "I spoke with him and Dana White, they said that I need to change and I’m going to be the champion one day. They said they know the fighters are afraid of me."

I like how he thinks Poirier got lucky! Even if he was fully healthy Poirier was coming out on top that fight!

LMAO throw him and Mayhem in the cage and lock it, forever. One will eventually get hungry and eat the other.

Like we needed confirmation. We already knew Diego Brandao is crazy as ****, and it seems unfortunately normal that he would irrationally threaten someone.

If Diego was 100%, he would have just gassed in the second round instead of the first. It was great watching Poirier smash him.

So cut Yushin Okami on the criterion that he's boring, but they keep this fat crazy ************.  Dana Logic befuddles me yet again. 

This guy is crazy, let Mendes give him another ko loss.

Brandao rules...who cares if he said he'd stab him, he didn't do it. He's a little psycho Brazilian from the favelas, that's what makes him an exciting and dangerous fighter.

Right, let's give this psycho (who just lost via TKO) to the #1 contender..... makes sense. Although i would like to see him fight Conor McGregor!

A few things I don't get ...

If the car crash was two weeks before the fight, how did he suddenly "find" himself at 180lbs ... two weeks before the fight?

If the car crash was two weeks before the fight how come he only trained about 5 times for the fight? Does he have 2-3 week camps? 

So many inconsistencies in hist story.

Hey Diego! How about a ******* 145er professional athlete doesn't bloat up to 180lbs until he retires, huh?

Oh, and about Poirier getting lucky? Yeah, he's lucky he didn't break his hand from punching him so much.

Crime: No respect for an opponent that demolished him and no respect for the sport that provides for him.
Punishment: He will never, ever, ever, eeeehever be top 10 as longs as this is his demeanor.

 This guy has went full ****** time and time again, I laughed at the MMA world when they said he'd be a contender and top 10 FW because of his TUF performances....same idiots who thought Daley was the best Welterweight striker...Bring Daley back though.

If your car crash is bad enough that your unable to train and you have spine and rib injuries that are going to affect your performance then pull the **** out of the fight.
Either he's playing up the crash as being worse than it is to cover him just not doing well  or he went out there knowing he couldnt perform and posibly dangering his long term health. neither of those is good.

You guys forgot; first he claimed he made weight before the weigh ins and then he misses weight at the weigh ins and he still claims he made weight.

He should be cut for being such a complete psychotic moron.

All I know is this: I've threatened to stab several people with pens (including several family members). Never once have I done it. It's just **** talk.

I'm pretty sure he said 'stab you in the kneck' like Poirier said but his peeps advised him to say something that sounds like 'kneck' when he admits to it. Sounds a bit less like a death-threat when you replace 'kneck' with 'pen' and they can always claim Poirier didn't hear him properly. Who says "I'll stab you with a pen"??? That's not even a thing ...

The UFC needs to get him to a psychologist ASAP. He is clearly a mentally unstable mess and if they ever want him to be successful, he needs to get his **** together

If they didn't get a shrink for Paul Harris, they definitely won't get one for Brandao.

never been a fan of brandao disliked him since TUF . this just makes me hate him more . still find it hilarious when people were saying he was gonna be a contender after Tuf hahaha. he breaks so easy

They'll probably get Brandao help since he's a TUF winner and they'll want to keep him around for a bit longer.

Dana said at the post fight press conference after Poirier talked about the story that he had a talk with Brandao and that he wasn't well mentally and that he was going to get him some help.
