If they had Jones/Gustafsson II, Cain/JDS IV, and Melendez/Sanchez II on the same card, it would be sold out in any size arena.

I'd feel a bit more sorry for JDS getting pounded on like that if he hadn't kept on stating that Cain hits like a girl ... he got the pass the first time since it was on a show and in jest, but then he kept on saying it and sticking to that damn "he couldn't finish me for 25 minutes and I finished him in a minute" line ... I hope now he shows a bit more respect to the guy who proved without a doubt he's the better fighter. Much, much better.

JDS showed so much heart that he wouldn't circle away from the cage yet he still showed that he tried everything to win the fight.

So much heart.

There is no defending of myself going on here as i don't need to, what I'm doing is pointing out the stupidity of some of the people on this site.

Why are people trying to sell Sanchez-Melendez as the best fight ever??? Diego in zombie mode does mean it was a good fight. I thought it was a pretty one sided affair outside of one wild exchange.

@AllHailKrull

I don't know what Junior's inability to circle away from the cage has to do with his heart. He has always moved in and out of harm's way in straight lines. That is a FLAW in his game, and one that he couldn't correct in time for this fight. It says nothing about his heart and determination, and now that I've re-watched the fight, he clearly kept going until he simply couldn't anymore.

Every time when I am not looking at my opponent while grappling I leave my neck exposed. Sometimes I get choked into a tap. I didn't get choked because I gave up, I got choked because my opponent was better than me and exploited a flaw. You can't simply tell me to keep my chin close to my chest while rolling, I am not making a conscious effort at not doing that.

Overall, best set of fights I've seen in one event.  Not one disappointed me.

Sanchez vs. Melendez was one of the best ever.  Possibly FOY for me.  Both fighters had the chance to step out of the pocket and fight strategically, thereby giving themselves an easier fight.  Both accepted the challenge and gave the fans a fight to remember.

Junior was a much better fighter this time.  He lasted a lot longer in better shape.  He looked like he could still deliver the KO and score an upset.  He was unbelievably gracious in defeat.  "He beat me up."

Sanchez showed that one's stock can actually go up in defeat.  Just like Stephen Bonnar in that first epic fight with Forrest.  I've never seen a boring Sanchez fight.  Proves his lion's heart.

The UFC should show that Sanchez vs. Melendez often on free TV.  It will create nothing but fans.

In fact, the UFC should package "The Best of the UFC: Last Man Standing" and assemble the best fights ever.  My nominees?

Griffin vs. Bonnar I, 2005, Ultimate Fighter 1 Finale
Sanchez vs. Melendez, 2013, UFC 166
Jones vs. Gustafsson, 2013, UFC 165
Sanchez vs. Diaz, 2005, Ultimate Fighter 2 Finale
Henderson vs. Rua, 2011, UFC 139
Garcia vs. Jung I, 2010, WEC 48
Liddell vs. Silva, 2007, UFC 79
Sanchez vs. Parisyan, 2006, UFC Fight Night 6
Parisyan vs. Diaz, 2004, UFC 49
Sanchez vs. Kampmann, 2011, UFC on Versus 3

Dan Cormier showed his amazing skill set to best advantage.  I now give him a 50-50 chance against Jon Jones.  He showed that his performance against Frank Mir was off his feed.  Roy Nelson gave it his best but was simply out-fought, both on their feet and on the ground.

Hector Lombard finally showed why the UFC gave him that amazing intro package.  He's finally starting to cash in on his early amazing potential.  I was impressed that he even made weight!!!  I was sceptical.

Nate Marquardt might be finding that he's at the end of the line.  After a great career, this might spell the end for him.  He stands a good chance of being released.

Was very surprised the judges gave the decision to Jessica Eye.  I thought Sarah Kaufman won.

All in all, a great night of fights.  When it's cookin', it's cookin'.
