Ask and you shall receive. Good intro fight for Sergio. Vaughan has shown exceptional flashes of skill in his UFC appearances, but has fallen short against the top guns at 135.

Is Pettis going 135 for this one fight and then going  back to 125 or is he staying at 135?

I think he'll likely stay at 135. He's mentioned that cutting to 125 is very hard on him and he's very young, so he's not getting any smaller. Even Anthony got noticeably more dense between 24 and 26, and Sergio is only 20. Could see him at 145 in a few years.

Vaughn Lee is a pretty good test.  He's definitely a big step up from anyone else Sergio has fought.

I really hope that Pettis isn't jumping into deep waters too soon. The competition he has had so far has not been great. His last win was at a NAFC show. I've cornered a few guys at those shows and they tend to be fairly mismatched fights. He has a lot of potential so I hope he doesn't have a huge set back

I thought Vaughn Lee was cut, not sure how this fight will go but you gotta pick Pettis simply off hype and potential when fighting a guy whos 13-9-1 and 31years old at Bantamweight.

Actually 31 years old is considered MMA prime (if you're not called Shogun or BJ Penn, i.e. you actually put the work in) ... it's usually the time when you've got your full "man strength", a lot of experience and haven't started declining physically ... so I don't think that'll be the factor if Pettis wins ... I think it'll be more him being a smaller copy of his brother, with those same Tae Kwon Do teachers as a kid and Duke Roufus training. Plus sparring with the #1 155er in the world since you're a kind doesn't suck either :)

Still, Vaughan is dangerous when underestimated and has his back to the wall, this is by no means an easy entry fight.

31 at Bantamweight is not prime generally speaking. Also, I was more or less saying at 31 Vaughn Lee has a almost losing record and has a losing record in the UFC despite mainly fighting the low tier fighters in his divisio. Make no mistake, hes the lamb in this matchup who will be cut pending a loss. Can he win? For sure between Pettis going up in weight, it being his UFC debut and him only being 20 and having only faced saplings at best thua far in his career, of course Vaughn has a reasonable shot. I think the general consensus is also Vaughns grappling heavy style and possible size advantage may expose Pettis too, but I doubt it.

I will comfortably pick Pettis off hype, potential, name, youth and momentum like I said. Ive been looking forward to Cejudo and Pettis makinh big splashes in the UFCs shallow flyweight division, hopefully Cejudo ends up at Flyweight even though Pettis didnt.

Would have been nice to see him at 125 being that the division is so shallow. I understand completely why he wouldn't wanna have to cut that much anymore though.

@Nomad: Lee hasn't been super impressive, but it's just plain wrong to say he's been losing to the low-tier fighters in the weight class. Aside from Cariaso, Lee has only lost to Dillashaw (Current No. 9 contender) and Assuncao (Current No. 5 contender).

You got me there Skelli but his wins in the UFC are against guys with losing records in the organization too.

@Nomad you're right about that. Like I said in the first post, I think Lee has shown flashes of high-level skill, but he hasn't been able to put it together. I think he'll give Pettis trouble, but will get subbed or decisioned.

According to his Wiki page 5 of his 9 fights were at 135 pounds winning titles at 135 and 125. 135 will probably be the better division for him, but it would have been nice to see him at 125 with the division being shallow at this point. I think he'll break his way into the top 10 at 135 pounds and do pretty well. Future title challenger? Future champ? Perhaps...

Time will tell. He might have trouble with the bigger, stronger men at either weight class right now. Kid's obviously far from done growing.

Prediction: Pettis  |  Submission  |  Round 1

Altought i would like to see Pettis in 125lb, I think is so hard for him to cut 125lb. First bout in Ufc and he will have "easy" fighter to make a debut. I say easy fighter because Lee is very irregular fighter he shows his bad face lately.

I'm not sure if Pettis could be champion in 135lb in the future, because is a top division with any top fighter. Barao, Faber, Cruz are monster fighters. But he will be on top of bantamweight division.

Looking forward to this fight, sergio has huge pressure and i hope he performs and i think he will because the pettis bros seem to have that special DNA.
