It snot that, its that you have said before, that even though you're canadian, you dont feel obligated to like anadians because of that. but you just said you had to cheer for grant because he is canadian.

My biggest disappointment with last night's UFC on Fox 7 was the Mir / Cormier fight.

What happened to all the pre-fight hype and nastiness?  Cormier promised not to finish Mir because he wanted 'all of him'.  He wanted to punish, hurt, humble him for 15 minutes.  A quick KO was not good enough?

And after all that, what?  A clinch game against the fencing for 15 minutes, where Cormier held his forearm against Mir's neck?  What happened to the fight?

I don't know how Mir can come back from this inexplicably passive non-fight and have any credibility anymore.

And this does not advance the cause of Daniel Cormier one bit, either.  Neither man impressed.  I was so let down!  And the better action of the other fights only served to underscore the lackluster performances of both Mir and Cormier.

By Dana White announcing that Ben Henderson's next opponent would be the winner of the Maynard / Grant fight, it made my day!

I've been wanting Henderson to fight Gray Maynard for so long now, and now I have my wish!  Sweet!  Thank you, Dana!

And while Henderson goes into training camp for the winner of that fight, he'll have to wait for Eddie Alvarez to get free and come over, and for Jose Aldo to stop delaying and announce he's moving up to LW following the fight with Anthony Pettis.  And regardless of the outcome of that fight, let's hope both Aldo and Pettis move up to LW!

Very emtertaining card overall. All the alpha male guys put on spectacular performances. I was most impresses with Josh Thompsons destruction od Diaz. I was least impressed with Bormier's wall and stall tactic against Mir. Because up until now when Mir lost it was because he got KOed. Also the Carmont v Larkin decision was confusing. In a way Carmont walled and stalled Larkin but he didn't even dirty box, Larkin could have been way more active but still a terrible decision.

Also interesting the matches with guys most known for striking: Masividal, Means, Carmodt, and Larkin. The winners relied on a wrestling based attack.

I think Cormier should have gone for takedowns.  His gameplan was so safe that it backfired on his reputation.  With his athleticism and training, I think it would have been unlikely for Mir to submit him. There's always the risk, but it would have made for a better fight and a happier fan base. Cormier repeatedly took Barnett down, was never in serious submission danger, and the fight was perfectly entertaining.

Barnett relies on his top game when he grapples. I don't remember Cormier giving him a chance to get on top in their fight. Mir is one of the best guys at working a bottom game during grappling exchanges in the HW division with Werdum being the only other person that would be better. Cormier most likely didn't want to test this.

It would have been risky to engage Mir on the ground but why not use wrestling to stay on the feet and out strike Mir. Was Cormier's only option to pin Mir and hold him on the wall. Was striking with Mir to risky as well? There no arguing against pinning Mir to the fence was the safest easiest way to win but it was boring and unimpressive. If Cormier wanted to come in and make a statement this wasn't the way to do it. Melendez made a more impressive statement losing to Henderson than Cormier did beating Mir.

Just finished catching up, Jury and Thomsons finishes were beautiful. Great fight out of Nate also.

I was bummed out to see Mein lose but at least he put up a hell of a fight. And damn we came so close to having a new lightweight champ. Unfortunately it was too close and we have to put up with Bendo a little longer.

Bigj383 just made the statement of the Day.  Melendez looked better losing than Cormier did winning.

Jury and Njokuani should've won the KOTN bonuses imo. Thomson KOing Nate Diaz is impressive but like Matt Brown's it was a cumulative TKO while the other 2 were 1 strike KOs. Romero deserved something but his wasn't as clean.

Mendes has really shed his "boring" label. I guess he realized you won't beat Aldo by just wrestling him.
