UFC on FOX 7 General Discussion

Man, this was a hard card to call.  Let's hope everyone puts on a good show in a couple of hours.

I thought it was a good fight. But I agree with what happened.  I mean gil didn't have any spec. Moment. Bendo had a few.  From the leg kick knockdowns to the sweep on the feet to gils back. I thought hendo won. And honestly IMO I wouldn't have been surprised with a unanimous decision. 

I say KOTN goes to Jury, and the 2nd one to Njokuani or Romero and FOTN to Brown/Mein

Benson won. He land more, just until the numbers come out. They will have a rematch for sure and will probably be another close one.

Actually I did give Gil 1,2,5 lol

@mulefloyd Diego Sanchez already claimed that title.

Also Ben's fights are much closer than Leonard's.

Glad Ben won. I picked him to win and had him winning the fight, though seeing how round 5 developed, I think it was certain it was going to be a split decision.

Again, it doesn't mater how close that fight was, it wasn't a robbery. It could have gone either way and it would've been justified. I'm just glad it went in Ben's favor.

I had Melendez winning 1,2 and 5 Henderson and Carmont must be decision brothers, buddies with the judges.  Still think Edgar won both those fights with Henderson too.

There aren't many other top contenders that haven't already faced and lost to Henderson other than Pettis who is scheduled to face Aldo and Maynard who is scheduled to face TJ Grant. I hope they book an immediate rematch but don't see it happening.

Masvidal vs Means will get FOTN, and Jury/Njokuani will get KOTN. Bowling, and Nijem were old cold. Bowling wins FOTN, Faceplant of the night lol

I don't think that with a fight this close any way would be a robbery ... I don't know what this "great fight" some of you are talking about is, but hey, it was a great card.

Not every close fight is great ... I think they both mainly cancelled each other out and were left doing what they're both least good at ... it was an ok fight, not bad, but definitely not great.

@yossgold I actually agree, I don't think it was a great fight by any means either.

It was a very close fight, but not a great fight.

Another controversial decision for ben. I smell a conspiracy....

Once again, I fell victim to the Matt Brown picking curse. Once again, I picke against him and he won, but give the guy credit. He fought a great fight against a very tough opponent in Jordan Mein. Matt Brown looked like a serious contender in tonight's fight.

Who would've ever predicted that Josh Thomson would not only defeat Nick Diaz, but finish him. Thomson was at his best tonight, and with that, I think that we could very well see...........Melendez/Thomson IV.

Daniel Cormier and Frank Mir should both be ashamed of their performances in tonight's contest. By far, I think that was not only the worst HW fight of 2013, but quite possibly the worst fight period of 2013. IMO, both fighters should be cut. Mir fought with no sense of urgency, and Cormier did nothing to impress me as the fighter that I know him to be. On a fight card that had so many exciting fights with so many exciting finishes, Cormier vs. Mir killed the momentum of what was quite possibly THEE fight card of 2013.

Congratulations to Bendo for his engagement and getting the split decision victory, but IMHO for the 3rd time, Bendo was given a decision in a fight that he didn't win. I'd like to know where the strike stat numbers came from, because from what I saw, Melendez was landing the more significant strikes all fight long. I gave Melendez the first 2 rounds. Round 3 could've gone either way, and the 5th round, I thought, was Melendez's round. By my scorecards I had it 49-46 for Melendez.

With all that said, it was still one of the best fight cards of 2013. Thanks once again to the UFC for a great night of fights.

I wish Robbie Lawler wasn't fighting Saffedine. I want to see Brown vs. Lawler after tonight.

Whoa a little much on Mir/Cormier should be cut...whenever I see fights like that one I always think back to the saying "Win tonight, look good next time out" 

Can't believe people actually think Cormier could cut to 205 and have a chance to beat jones. Cormier couldn't catch Jones. If Mir would have kept off fence and kept up with kicks and striking.... 

Hey, so it wasn't DC's best performance. Why's everyone against him all of a sudden?
