Ok, this is starting to get ridiculous!!!!!!

http://www.mmamania.com/2012/9/30/3433492/rashad-evans-turned-down-glover-teixeira-fight-return-january-february

they all have solid reasoning, but I don't know ... this is just getting weird ... in the end Dana's going to get so pissed off at all of them he's going to let him fight Jon Jones for the title.

While Maldonado may not be a big name, he still stepped up. Much respect.

I understand where Rashad was coming from, he wanted more  time to prepare, can you blame him?

All that matters is Maldonado stepped up and he is the **** for doing so.

Props to Maldonado for stepping up but Rashad sucks. U don't train 4 1 fighter u train 4 all aspects of the game! Mixed martial arts. If ur not ready get out of the UFC cause ur not hungry!

Rashad doesn't really have much to gain by taking this fight on short notice.
He's been planning on a December/January return for a while now.

Like I said, solid reasoning for all of them, especially Rashad, who probably walks around at 220 and shouldn't take a fight against someone so dangerous on such a short notice, but still, when you take a step back and look at things, no one wants to fight this guy.

As for Maldonado stepping up? Seriously, is he in any position to turn a fight like that down? If he'd have turned down the fight he'd have lost his job, he's already in a wobbly position, he's a solid lower-mid-tier fighter and cannot afford to turn down fights so him "stepping up" ... maybe ballsy, maybe just because he had to ... I wouldn't compare him to Rashad who has everything to lose. At least Shogun has more time to prepare when he turned down the Glover fight.

Karyn Bryant just said Glover Texiera is a rising star.

So I asked her how that is possible. Her response was, "2nd UFC fight so he is rising there."

The only response I had was, "He has been a top 15 LHW on Planet Earth for quite some time now, I guess you have to target the casual sheep so it makes sense."

My question to you all is who is more accurate Karyn "Rosa Parks of MMA" Bryant or me?

@Lopati, both. He is a rising star in that he is just starting to make his name become a household one but he is also a top 15 LHW

Live2, thanks for the response and I see the point because unlike Tapologists most people only know who is in the UFC and that is something I fail to recognize, lol.  Mostly on purpose, but not always.

Rashad and Shogun turned down the fight against Teixeira simply because he is not on their level. I mean what do they get with a win over someone that just got into the UFC? They want top fighters to get another title shot.

EDU, I am sorry breaux, but in my opinion they didnt take the fight with Texeira for completely different reasons that have nothing to do with being on levels.  They know what level Glover is on and the know they dont want any piece of that wrecking ball.

This was Shogun's reason why he rejected : "Glover is a top fighter, I know him, I respect him, but he only made his UFC debut. He needs more fights. I had nothing to gain from this fight."... " Surely, Glover is a top fighter, but today, if I beat him, I will not win anything. So we decided to refuse this fight, but in the future, this fight can happen. "
Rashad might have a different reason.

Rashad's not even a LHW anymore...I'll let him slide for not taking a fight at 205 against a monster.

@Edu Everything Shogun said basically translates to "I didn't want to get beat by a guy fighting for the second time in the UFC, so I took a fight with Brandon Vera instead."

Edit: Brandon Vera had been cut after what was initially ruled a loss to Thiago Silva which would have given him three losses in a row, but Silva pissed dirty, the fight was ruled a no contest, and Brandon Vera was rehired. He then went on to defeat Elliot Marshall by Decision before taking the fight with Shogun. Please tell me how Shogun fighting Brandon Vera is a better career choice for him than fighting Glover Teixiera....

Haha yea but at least Brandon Vera has name so he can be in the main fight or co-main. + rejecting 2 fights in a row will make shogun look bad i guess. But anyway i think if Teixeira defeats Maldonado he should fight Jimi Manuwa they both have impressive record outside of UFC, it has everything to be a great fight.
