I am surprised that no one has started this thread yet.

I know this is an MMA website but I bet that there are some Boxing Fans out there.

I just love the sport of fighting in general and I have been raised by boxing.

So in this Thread we can discuss the "Sweet Science"

such as
Past Fights
Upcoming Events
Favorite Fighters
and Historical Figures in the Sport

Because like MMA in the US, Boxing started out illegal. But where it took MMA less than 25 years to gain the General populations approval, It took boxing over 100 years.

Discuss and have fun.

Early rounds went good for Cotto, and Canelo really started to land late in the fight. But is it too little too late.

Hate those scores. Definitely thought it was closer and I thought Cotto took 7 rounds, but knew a couple of those were close. 11-1, 10-2, and 9-3 are not even close to what I saw.

Having said that, I think Alvarez/GGG is the better fight. Cotto looked like he needed a second wind to keep his foot speed up and against GGG that would've been bad. Alvarez has more power and looks like he can deliver a better shot. Cotto would've had a bad matchup against GGG as Alvarez didn't really cut the ring, but GGG actually has that skill. So, overall, I'm conflicted. Happy that we get the better fight, but sad that Cotto didn't get the win he in all likelihood deserved.

But seriously though 119-109 that is some ********. I am not upset with the outcome, I am upset with the scores. I had it 6-6 even. or maybe 7-5 Cotto. That is messed up. and Mexican Blake Griffin is going to get ****** UP BY GGG!

If GGG vs Canelo happens, it will be the most satisfying fight I may have ever watched live. Gennady, the most ducked fighter of this generation...vs Canelo, the face of boxing, the pretty boy, the token Mexican...live on Pay Per View...two top 10 pound for pound guys and GGG will wade right the **** through Canelo taking a giant Kazakh **** all over all ya moms!

@hdmexiqtioner,

"Mexican Blake Griffin is going to get ****** UP BY GGG!"

It's cute that you think he's ever going to fight him ... or at least fight him before he starts dipping out of his prime. Canelo's young enough, he can wait for GGG to drop a notch or two and then he'll go full Floyd and say "there you see? I fought him, now what you got to say?"

I don't see Canelo fighting GGG within the next 2-2.5 years. Then, when Canelo's a prime 27-28 and Gennady's a nice ripe 36-37 he's going to "shock the world".

He'll find a way ... most likely only agree to fight him at a super low weight even though he's fought higher before to avoid the "he refulsed to fight him so he'll be stripped" thing.

******* boxers.

Blake Griffin is explosive and athletic, Canelo is just hard working. Not a fair comparison.
