I think we should be careful to not overrate Jamie Varner, he beat an overrated Edson Barboza who had his hype built off of throwing flashy kicks. I like Varner but I'm approaching this fight with caution.

Varner did pull off an incredible KO of Barboza and Lauzon certainly has a suspect chin after his quick knockout from Pettis in his last fight either way I see this fight definitely being finished. I think Lauzon will come out on top with a submission, however Varner is good, but he is not Anthony Pettis good with his striking I don't think.

Suspect chin? Did you see the same headkick I saw? 1 minute,5 minutes or the last 30 seconds.. I don't care what time in the fight,a headkick like that lands, you're going out.

If a 3rd deg black belt in Taekwondo kicks you in the head and you get knocked out,it's probably because he's a 3rd degree black belt and nothing really to do with your chin...

Lauzon is a monster in the 1st round and he'll catch Varner in something.

Come on guys, I thought we were better than this.

Ok, so we all get a little addicted to hype here and there, but come on. If you have any sense you know that Varner's win against Barboza was a 1 out of 10 victory. No, I'm not saying he got lucky, but Barboza got caught. Barboza is the better fighter. What are the odds that Varner performs like that? I doubt it. Lauzon by decision.

Both guys are hard to predict.  Probably gonna end up going with Lauzon in this one...no way of knowing if Varner is really back and Lauzon is so aggressive and creates openings to finish well.

Going with Varner. His wrestling gave Bendo trouble in the first two rounds of their fight hard to see Lauzon having an easy time getting it to the ground.

Intresting matchup. Being a long time J Lo fan I'd love to see him get a win ,speacially over Varner. There has always been something about this guy that irks me? Maybe its just his looks? Both are true veterans and bring it . It seems Varners problems are training and Joes problem is mental focus ,coupled with a shakey chin. Varners smaller frame works for him this time and I think he will stun Joe in the trenches when Joe's lust for shoot outs gets him in trouble.I dont see Joe hurting the durable Varner and Varner is on a HIGH comeing off the Barboza upset. Also Varner is finally cashing in with the UFC. Before the Barboza bout...Varners last foray in the UFC earned him a total of 6K going 1-1 in the UFC. Nothing STILL would please me more than seeing Joe smash Varner into the mat.

I'll say right now that I think Varner is gonna win, but it's tough to pick against J-Lau.

Looking forward to the fight, fan of both. I'm not sure on this one, I'm afraid if I take a Lauzon sub Varner will get the tko and if I pick the tko Lauzon will get the sub. It feels like this won't go to the 3rd, combined they have only 6 decisions so I'm not going with a decision....it should be fun

Im a big fan of Varner (or anyone else that wrestled for ASU) so i see him using size/strength to dictate how this fight goes. hes not too prone to getting subbed either

This one doesn't make it to decision. In almost 60 fights the 2 have combined for a total of 6 decisions. Lauzon has a great 1st round, but he goes all out in the first and blows his wad, in the 2nd Varner uses his wrestling to control Lauzon until he has a favorable position at which point Varner unleashes vicious GNP to get the TKO.

I don't think Lauzon will be able to take Varner down. And i think the only way Lauzon can sub Varner is if he rocks him first, and I really don't see Varner getting rocked. Therefore, I think the first will be fairly action packed and even. I think Varner picks up the pace in the second and gets a GNP finish.

Varner's a good fighter, and I'd give him an edge on the feet, but he's just outclassed on the ground.

barbosa underestimated varner and paid for it. Varner is good but past his prime. If varner takes lauzon down, he is getting triangled
