Wiki
UFC 73 Wiki
True to its billing, UFC 73 was stacked from top to bottom, showcasing two title fights, featuring Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva and Lightweight Champion Sean Sherk, respectively, along with a light heavyweight bout pitting former champion Tito Ortiz against TUF 2 winner Rashad Evans.
While Silva knocked Nate Marquardt out in the first round, the other two featured bouts resulted in controversy. Evans and Ortiz fought to a draw after Ortiz was deducted a point for grabbing the fence to avoid a takedown, whereas Sherk and challenger Hermes Franca both tested positive for performance enhancing drugs following the event. Sherk was later stripped of his title. UFC 73 also marked the promotional debut of former Pride Heavyweight Champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.
