UFC 10 Wiki
UFC 10 marked the promotion's return to the tournament format that had been removed at UFC 9 in order to complete the show in the alloted Pay Per View time slot. After the poor fan reaction of the previous event, the return to the tournament format proved to be a popular choice among viewers, and the UFC 10 tournament was one of the most successful yet.
Mark Coleman, later anointed “The Grandfather of Ground-and-Pound,” made his MMA debut in the tournament, defeating heavy favorite Don Frye in the finals to win the championship. Coleman went on to be one of the most popular UFC fighters over the next two tournaments, and was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2008.
