  1. 1

Kamaru Usman vs. Leon Edwards II
    Usman vs. Edwards II
    Leon Edwards | KO/TKO | Round 5
    2022 | UFC 278
I had a really hard time deciding whether this or #2 should be #1 on the list. At the end of the day, Leon Edwards pulled off what may be (and what I think is) the greatest comeback victory in MMA history. Leon was down three rounds to one, Usman was ready to cruise to a decision, everyone was saying that Leon was broken, but in that moment, with just a minute left in the fight, Leon lined up the most perfect head kick in UFC history to win a world championship, and fell the #1 pound for pound fighter. You can't get better than that. Headshot, dead.
  2. 2

    Michael Chandler vs. Tony Ferguson
    Chandler vs. Ferguson
    Michael Chandler | KO/TKO | Round 2
    2022 | UFC 274
The best front kick knockout in UFC history. Fight me. Fun fact: I woke up my entire college dorm while freaking out from this KO. Enough about me, more about Michael Chandler, and oh my God, Chandler legitimately sent Ferguson to space. I know a lot of people are huge Tony fans and were really sad about this. I am not one of those fans, I don't hate Tony, but Chandler's one of my favorite fighters, and this KO made me love him even more.
  3. 3

    Jai Herbert vs. Ilia Topuria
    Herbert vs. Topuria
    Ilia Topuria | KO/TKO | Round 2
    2022 | UFC Fight Night
Man, a lot of my favorite fighters have been getting amazing KOs this year. Ilia Topuria is my pick to be featherweight champion in the next five years. Huge power, great skillset, killer instinct, and as this fight proved, tough as hell and intelligent. Jai Herbert was HUGE in comparison to Ilia and had the London crowd behind him, and I thought the fight was over after that head kick in round 1. Leave it to Topuria to come back from essentially being KO'd and overcome a nearly foot long reach disadvantage to send Jai Herbert to the moon with one of the best right hands I've ever seen. Silencing the crowd was the cherry on the top. I can't wait to see more of Topuria.
  4. 4

    Danny Chavez vs. Ricardo Ramos
    Chavez vs. Ramos
    Ricardo Ramos | KO/TKO | Round 1
    2022 | UFC Fight Night
Fun fact: I was also in the crowd for this KO, and I went insane because this came out of legit nowhere. I knew Ramos was flashy, but being so confident as to throw a spinning elbow from distance is insane. Under no circumstances should this have worked, but it did, and if Ramos didn't land any follow up shots it probably would've ranked higher due to the elbow freezing Chavez against the cage. On a night with as many KOs as UFC Austin had, this one is definitively the best, and that's saying something.
  5. 5

Weili Zhang vs. Joanna Jędrzejczyk II
    Zhang vs. Jędrzejczyk II
    Weili Zhang | KO/TKO | Round 2
    2022 | UFC 275
It's not often we get cold KOs in WMMA, but UFC 275 was generous enough to give us two on the same night. In one of the most hyped rematches in recent memory, Zhang Weili sent Joanna Violence to the Shadow Realm with a picture perfect spinning backfist. Singapore you guys had a treat in UFC 275, I wish I could've been there.
  6. 6

    Marlon Vera vs. Dominick Cruz
    Vera vs. Cruz
    Marlon Vera | KO/TKO | Round 4
    2022 | UFC Fight Night
There's two kinds of knockouts that I'm a sucker for: head kicks and flying knees. Chito Vera may not have my favorite attitude, but damn has he leveled up out of nowhere in the past couple years. The fight against Rob Font was a demolition job, this fight was a competitive master class. Despite the finish, Cruz kept the fight competitive even when he was knocked down twice, but this KO put an exclamation on what may end up being the best year of Chito's career. Man the events in front of crowds have been great this year (aside from the second London event).
  7. 7

    Molly McCann vs. Luana Carolina
    McCann vs. Carolina
    Molly McCann | KO/TKO | Round 3
    2022 | UFC Fight Night
Molly McCann may annoy me to no end, but I do have to say that this knockout is great, if not a tad overrated. McCann's entire fanfare may only be due to fighting exclusively in England and acting like a ******* during fights that aren't even hers (and also running around with a fake belt), but this is the one redeeming quality of her career so far, to me at least. Spinning elbows may be getting more and more common nowadays, but a KO from one, especially in a women's division, is commendable, even if it is against a piece of cardboard like Luana Carolina.
  8. 8

    Derrick Lewis vs. Tai Tuivasa
    Lewis vs. Tuivasa
    Tai Tuivasa | KO/TKO | Round 2
    2022 | UFC 271
Hey look, another fight that I was in the crowd for. It is almost miraculous that somebody could be cheered for finishing Derrick Lewis in Houston, but if anyone was going to do it, it was Tai Tuivasa. After walking out to "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," Tuivasa put on a damn good fight with Derrick Lewis, and handed Lewis his second KO/TKO in a row in his hometown. Unlike Ciryl Gane though, Tuivasa actually received cheers for this (except from the really annoying dudes sitting in front of me).
  9. 9

    Johnny Walker vs. Jamahal Hill
    Walker vs. Hill
    Jamahal Hill | KO/TKO | Round 1
    2022 | UFC Fight Night
Ah yes, the funny fall KO. This KO probably wouldn't be as high as it is if not for how Johnny Walker fell against the cage. Granted, knocking out Johnny Walker isn't as impressive as when Corey Anderson did it, but it's still impressive seeing Jamahal Hill score a knockout.
  10. 10

    Marlon Moraes vs. Yadong Song
    Moraes vs. Song
    Yadong Song | KO/TKO | Round 1
    2022 | UFC Fight Night
Probably not as impressive as it would've been if Song landed this KO three years ago, but still crazy. I remember seeing Song on the prelims of UFC 239 and seeing him score that insane one punch KO. I thought to myself "this guy's gonna be good." While the doctor stoppage against Cory Sandhagen later in the year was a bit deflating, this Ko against Marlon was definitely a highlight of Song's 2022. Heartbreaking way for Marlon to leave the UFC, and it seems like it hasn't gotten better for the guy in PFL.

  12. 11

    Takashi Sato vs. Bryan Battle
    Sato vs. Battle
    Bryan Battle | KO/TKO | Round 1  |  UFC Fight Night
Textbook headkick KO. What else can I say? I do think the slap sound that Battle's foot made on Sato's face was hilarious. Wish this could've led to a decent welterweight run for Battle, but the guy's been stopped in his tracks by Fakhretdinov. Still looking forward to Battle's future fights.
  13. 12

    Jason Witt vs. Josh Quinlan
    Witt vs. Quinlan
    Josh Quinlan | KO/TKO | Round 1  |  UFC Fight Night
Is it really fair to place the KO of a guy confirmed to be on steroids on this list? Maybe, IDK, that's up to you. What a way to debut for the UFC though: clean KO, big crowd, and even endearing yourself to some of the fanbase by holding back on the follow up shots. Just try to keep your piss clean and maybe you'll get even more fans.
  14. 13

    Jeremiah Wells vs. Court McGee
    Wells vs. McGee
    Jeremiah Wells | KO/TKO | Round 1  |  UFC Fight Night
What better way to spend Father's Day weekend then watching a UFC event live in Austin, Texas. I realistically could've put most of the KOs from this night on this list, but as for what popped the crowd the most, this and another KO further up on this list did just that. Wells is shaping up to be a real problem at welterweight, and knocking out a guy who is notoriously difficult to finish in Court McGee is a good way to announce your presence. It really is scary how much power Wells has in his hands.
  15. 14

    Frankie Edgar vs. Chris Gutierrez
    Edgar vs. Gutierrez
    Chris Gutierrez | KO/TKO | Round 1  |  UFC 281
Was I sad that Frankie Edgar retired? No, not really. He realistically should've retired three years ago. At least another one of my favorite rising prospects, Chris Gutierrez, got to have a big showcase win on a massive stage. I was seriously contemplating putting Gutierrez' spinning backfist over Danaa Batgerel from UFC Columbus on this list, but this KO tops it. First round, big knee, Edgar out cold stiff, super hot MSG crowd. Very nice KO, just maybe would've been more impressive if it was done against someone under the age of 35.
  16. 15

    Alex Caceres vs. Julian Erosa
    Caceres vs. Erosa
    Alex Caceres | KO/TKO | Round 1  |  UFC Fight Night
This just barely snuck into my list at the end of year. Alex Caceres is somehow still around in the UFC, and is somehow on the best run of his career. I always thought Bruce Leeroy was more of a submission guy, so I did not expect him to bust out an uber-clean fade away head kick against Julian Erosa. Erosa's chin may be the defintion of hot-and-cold in terms of durability, but when he goes down, he goes down hard. Great way Caceres to close out his fairly successful 2022.
