Since Silva tested positive for a banned substance, should Vera be allowed back into the UFC.

No. I have never seen a Brandon Vera fight that I have enjoyed. Whether he wins or loses, he manages to make it the worst fight on the card. Don't care for his personality, and he will never be a top ten lhw.

Yeah he declined pretty badly, but you sound like a hater, Kelliher :)

What about Vera's destructions of Frank Mir, Assuerio Silva, Justin Eilers?  The guy was one of the most exciting and must-watch fighters in MMA in 2006.

@kym -

To be fair, let's wait until there is a confirmation of a positive test.  But either way I don't think it changes the fact that Vera looks like his "fighting spirit" has been sapped somewhat.

He's gotten his face viciously rearranged in his last two fights. I think it's up for Brandon Vera to decide what he wants to do. If he wants to keep fighting, he should pick up some quality wins in smaller promotions, and prove that he's still got the eye of the liger.

Yeah he needs to rise up to the challenge of his rivals. Only then can he become the last known survivor and ... sweat in the night?

Vera should thank the UFC for setting up his fight with Mir when they did...No way Vera beats a healthy physically and mentally Frank Mir...However Vera I think needs to go figure out if he wants to fight anymore...he has some talent to fight anyone out there, but never seems that interested in fighting right now

I was wondering this earlier. Even if the test is positive though, I don't think he should get resigned. It sucks to go out the way he did, considering the possible steroids or whatever, but he isn't focused any more. If he gets a few wins in smaller promotions, then maybe bring him back? But right now, I don't think so.

If Diaz can lose his victory over Gomi because he was high, you'd have to think Silva's going to have that fight turned into a No Contest if he tests positive.  But that's the best Vera is going to get.  An "NC" on his record instead of an "L".  He won't be coming back any time soon.

Brandon Vera has definitely lost something in his game since 2006.  He had enormous potential and expectations, but it's like he just bought into his own hype and lost that fire that got him to where he was.  Ever since his first loss in the UFC he's been one of the most inconsistent fighters in the UFC, yet he's still got that attitude like he's at the top of the food chain when really he was fighting for his job.

There are several light heavyweights I'd like to see the UFC sign before even considering bringing Brandon Vera back.
