You were clearly quoting me, as I was talking about Jones not using his reach to his full advantage, then you say that's why I think he's gonna get KO'd. Are you trolling me right now?

* And what kind of logic is that, since YOU think Jones could use his reach BETTER, despite finishing his last 7-8 opponents, he is going to get KO'd by a guy that only has one KO in his last five fights and its against Tito "the retiree" Ortiz?!

Do I need to post this 5 times? That's what YOU said. Right there. For real.

It might not be MMAth, but it's still pretty ridiculous :)

@Capt: Thanks for acknowledging lack of MMAth, even if you still furiously disagree. My POV is this: WHY would someone suspect Evans to suddenly find KO power when he has shown no propensity for it against top teir talent? There is just no evidentiary support for the prediction.

And you passed the test and went and did your research, I was indeed quoting you. (You buying that, or do I have to eat crow for forgetting what I said even though it was plainly there for me to go check?)

Judo, I hate to jump on the ship against you but there are two guys ahead of Jones on P4P list.  The one you mentioned Anderson, and his little brother Jose "Scarface" Aldo.

And just for giggles, EVERY stat is on Jones' side to win this fight. I am talking all kinds of nerdy ass stats. Nothing favors Rashad at all in any way.

It's a fight, not math, nor science. And styles make fights. Otherwise, why even have the fight?

Unlike what many people are saying. MMA Math works PERFECTLY with this fight. Hear me out.

Rashad and Jones have common opponents in Lyoto Machida, Rampage Jackson and Stephan Bonnar. Machida ended Evans in the 2nd and Jones ended Machida in the 2nd so you can't really get a good statistical look on that fight. Rashad was a different fighter when he fought Bonnar, so again hard to get a good look on it. HOWEVER, Rampage is the perfect statistical specimen for this case.

They were about the same length (15 minutes vs. 16 minutes 16 seconds) and Rampage's performance was similar in both. He landed 17 sig strikes against Rashad and 16 against Bones. He went 0-1 in takedowns in both fights.

Now if you analyze that fight in the winner's perspective, Jones landed his takedowns at a 33% rate (2/6) and Evans landed at 25% (3/12). Evans never attempted a sub and passed his guard twice. Bones attempted 2 subs at passed his guard 3 times. Jones landed 61 sig strikes at a 51% rate, Evans landed 29 at a 56% rate. The one major difference? Rampage knocked Rashad down once. So what are these numbers saying exactly?

Jones is much more aggressive on the ground and is always looking for the finish, whereas Rashad is content on sitting there and only advances on the ground to facilitate more GnP. Rashad was very aggressive in getting the fight on the ground and he was able to against Rampage. HOWEVER, Jones has a reach to get through and he throws a lot of strikes, and with precision. He uses his jab very effectively, and that may stifle Rashad's gameplan. Rashad's striking defense is not very solid and with enough accurate strikes he could get KOed, even against a fighter without a lot of power in Jon Jones.

Usually, Jones uses his striking to advance his grappling but in a fight against a very good grappler in Rashad (the best he's ever faced), I think Jones will finish with strikes. I expect his ****y ass to toy with Rashad though, much like he did against Rampage. Bones via round 5 KO.

Aldo hasn't faced enough great talent to be considered great in my book. Is he awesome, yes indeed. But greatness is defined BY greatness. As they always say, you gotta beat the best to BE the best. He hasn't been challenged enough to be great. I know that may not ne a popular opinion, but it is the one I currently hold.

And someone else's P4P list means nothing to me. All rankings are really quite ridiculous. Just ask Tim Boetch, Matt Serra, Buster Douglas, and any other fighter that was never supposed to win a fight they won in dominating fashion.

MMAth with regard to the LHW division: Rashad beat Rampage who beat Lyoto, so Rashad should beat Lyoto. It really doesn't work here. * What you have there is just an intelligent breakdown, not MMAth.

Rashad has yet to be submitted. I think Bones will want to be the first to make him tap for mercy. I hope Bones puts him to sleep and drops him on his head like he did Machida. Maybe then Rashad will be humbled and stop being butthurt.
