I guess Dana said if Silva beats Belfort and GSP beats Sheilds then this match could very well happen and GSP would make a permanent move to 185!!!

When GSP beats Shields he'll be coming up on 4 years without a loss and almost the same amount of time holding the title. I think he'll move up for the simple fact that most of his title fights post shields will be rematches and GSP isn't to fond of fighting someone he's already destroyed.

Anderson also hasn't lost since new years eve 2004 (barring his illegal upkick to Okami) to the famous Chonan flying heel hook. What these two are currently doing in MMA is historic and as awesome as it'd be to see them fight each other, in the same sense it'd be a travesty to see one of them lose.

Now that I think of it, There's no one that really poses a challenge to GSP. He pretty much cleaned out the WW division. I think it woud be smart to move to a different weight class. Because if he wants to be known as the best ever he can't be fighting guys like shields.( Not that he a bad fighter or anything he's just not a gsp's level) I can't think of anybody next in line for a title shot. You never know Mw might be gsp true weightclass.

Your right, GSP is at such a high level i can't think of a single fighter that he won't be able to either outstrike or takdown repeatedly. Jon Fitch will always be his toughest fight, and unfortunately he just doesn't have the speed or timing to hang in with GSP for 5 rounds.

I don't think GSP will have any trouble making the higher weight class.  It will be different to see him going against guys that he doesn't have such a distinct strength advantage against though, as he'll have to fall back on his beautiful technique to earn him the victories.  However, GSP walks around much heavier than he fights at, and you can see it in how chiseled his frame is.  He'll be very comfortable at 185, if you ask me.  A guy like Anderson Silva will be a good fight for him, because he's a lean 185 lber himself, a guy who could probably cut down to welterweight without much issue.  There won't be such a huge gap in strength or weight, because the two fighters probably walk around at around the same weight naturally anyway.

I'd have to disagree with you RWLawman, Anderson Silva is said to walk around at about 215lbs and in his LHW fights weighed in at 205 while still looking somewhat lean with a little bigger upper body. With Andersons age i don't think he'd be able to make 170 and fight to his full potential.

if GSP makes a permanent move up, Fitch would be an extremely dominant champ at 170. Anderson's striking is so precise, I think he could take GSP out, but it would be an awesome fight for sure.

I don't think thunder is interesting enough, and I don't think his last fight was noteworthy enough for him to stall the GSP and Silva fight.

I think Okami vs Silva would actually be an awesome fight. Yushin provides some very real threats to Silva, he has a good chin, good submission defense, and great wrestling. He could do what Sonnen did, but without getting caught in the sub. However, I doubt Dana wants to risk the potential GSP vs Silva super fight so I wouldn't be surprised if he does that fight before the Silva/Okami fight.

Don't get me wrong, he should get his title shot, but I personally want to see the superfight more then a rematch.
