I saw an article on BloodyElbow where the writers all reflected on their best MMA moments of the decade. It really made me think, and I was wondering what you guys would say.
I'm still thinking about what mine is, but the first thing that comes to mind is definitely Pettis' Showtime Kick. I don't know if I've ever been as amazed or surprised about anything...ever.
So what was your best moment of the decade?

The first thing that comes to mind is definitely the Anderson comeback over Chael. That came as quite a shocker. Watching the Carwin-Lesnar fight was pretty tense, except I was disappointed Lesnar dominated him in the second.

Strikeforce landing on CBS then three 5 rounders & the infamous in cage brawl that made the sport look bad.

@Conman, yeah, the Silva-Sonnen sub was sick. And that whole SF brawl was pretty lame, lol..Another good one for me was Nogueira's sub of Tim Sylvia, he was getting tooled badly, then pulled guard, reversed him, then guillotined him. That was pretty awesome.

Not really my favorite but certainly some of the most significant moments of the decade.
Moments of the decade organizational:
TUF debuts on Spike TV introducing MMA to a mainstream audience.

ZUFFA buys Pride knocking out their only real competition.
The rise and fall of IFL, Affliction, and EliteXC
MMA surpasses both Boxing and WWE for yearly PPV buys.
I can Agree with yankees1 and the SF CBS debacle.

Fighter/Fighting Moments of the Decade:
Fedor wins the Pride HW title in dominating fashion and his eventual defeat at the hands (Actually legs) of Werdum ending his 28 fight win streak.
Randy Couture Regains the UFC HW championship against Tim Sylvia
Bonnar vs Griffin 1 best way season 1 of TUF could have ended.
Forrest Griffin beats Shogun, TUF as a path into the UFC was validated.
Anderson Silva breaks UFC consecutive win record and title defense record.
Former WWE star Lesnar wins UFC world title in 4th professional fight and defends it twice.
GSP destroys Matt Hughes, only to get beat by Serra, then comeback to become the most dominate WW fighter of all time.

There are endless ones to choose from -- BigJ's post names many of the best and I also like the Randy Couture over Tim Sylvia moment -- but if I had to pick a single evening in the last decade that has showcased the best of modern MMA it would have to be UFC 100.  At UFC 100 we got:

1) one of the greatest and most deeply satisfying knockouts of all time when Henderson KO'd Bisping following all the TUF build up;

2) an excellent showcase of the skill and athleticism of Georges St. Pierre in front of a mass media audience, who got to witness not only a great champion but a true professional who represents the best the sport has to offer;

3) the incredible spectacle of Brock Lesnar defeating Frank Mir for the heavyweight championship. Brock's post-fight behavior certainly wasn't great for the sport, but it was riveting to watch and certainly made for tens of thousands of new fans.

Add to all of that the attendance and pay-per-view figures and the absence of cheap gimmicks or freak-show matchups, and I consider it the single-day pinnacle of MMA thus far.

Maybe this also depends on your definition of "moment of the decade."  To me a moment is pretty quick.

Things like:
- Randeplex on Fedor
- Rampage powerbomb of Arona
- Wanderlei KO's Rampage through the ropes
- Pettis Showtime kick
- Couture drops Sylvia
- Gonzaga gives Cro Cop taste of his own medicine

Then I would make a different category for story of the decade and fight of the decade.

I agree with most of these, except yankees1 (you sonofa*****). UFC 100 was great, really a highpoint in the UFC's and MMA's history. The "Randleplex" was awesome, as was Rampage's slam on Arona. Good stuff so far guys, keep it comin.

yea, it has the high profile fighters, but also has very good and entertain match up. Silva vs Belfort some one getting finished and likely early.  Franklin vs Griffin is gunna be a war.

126 will be sick for sure. I think UFC 92 may be one of the best prospective cards of the decade, it had Mir/Nog (even though that was a bummer), Wand/Rampage and Griffin/Evans, 3 potentially great fights. This made me think, an all time greatest cards would be an awesome ranking if that were on here. Also the Pride 2005 Middleweight GP as a whole was a great moment, probably the best MMA tournament of all time.
