who exactly appoints the judges for ufc fights? lately i feel like they've been blowing more calls than they have been getting right. another thing that is killing me is the way the ufc scores take downs. i dont feel any old take down should be given consideration when considering an advantage. many fighters work great off thier back and there is a whole bunch of submissions that can be used once a fighter has pulled guard. all these wrestlers who get a take down and then jump right back up are just cheating the system. if they dont try to pass guard of even do any damage i dont think they have accomplished anything. i'd like to see fights scored closer to the pride system where total damage done during a fight is taken into consideration and submission attempts are also given credit. does anyone else feel the same way or have there been any ideas proposed to fix this?

the state athletic commissions appoint the judges. the athletic commissions don't necessarily pick qualified people. in some ways it's as simple as that.
i think the UFC has been pretty much just focused on getting regulation in place in every state. i wouldn't be surprised if once that's finished, that they start to turn their attention to finding ways to fix the judging problems. and it is a problem.
