A fan asked if he had any plans to add a superheavyweight division and Dana just smiled and said I will be making an announcement very soon about the UFC flyweight division. I personally don't like this but I guess I will just have to accept that an 8th division is coming.

Maybe I'm one of the few who aren't at all interested in seeing the UFC add flyweights.

First of all I think a Cruiserweight division (206 - 220 or 225) would be MUCH more interesting.  Instantly it could be filled with elite fighters who are a little big for light heavyweight, but too small for heavyweight.
Second, I'm not interested in seeing such small guys fighting.  We're talking 125 pounds.  It's fun watching a few of the smaller guys beat the odds like Mighty Mouse or the new TUF bantamweight champ, but a whole division of them would be too much for me.
Just my opinion though.

*on second thought, maybe I'm one of many who think this.

I'm cool with it all...add the flyweights...cruiserweights and super heavyweights! Just know there probably won't be a ton of finishes with the high level 125ers and the super HW will all gas mid 1st round!

There's a clear dif between a natural 125 lb person and a lightweight who destroys himself to make 125. what's the point?  I'm not against small people but if such a large portion of fighting wasn't about having a size advantage fans would get better fights. I'm sorry but it's ******** to hear a fighter say "and I had a bad cut" . I understand that's how it is but it still sucks. I'd rather see a super heavy implemented and see guys move up. It'll be interesting to see what kind of ripples this makes in the other divisions, if any.

I have no problem with watching 125ers fight, they actually put on some good scraps. But i dont think theres enough talent to support that division. I think generally the ufc wants a division with 30-35 fighters deep. Even if they take the 6 top guys from tachi palace, sign another top 4 guys from japan, and have 4-6 bantamweights drop down, thats only around 15-19 fighters. And having those few guys drop down from BW will jsut weaken an already thin division. They are already having trouble finding challengers for cruz.

ill probably get a negative post score for this

im not looking forward to more weight classes, especially 125lbs, id imagine there aren't many fighters at 125, it will probably mostly be 135ers dropping down to 125 just like Florian dropped to 145. i can see faber dropping to 125 after he losses to Cruz. in my opinion 7 weight classes is enough, one of the reasons i dont like boxing is because of so many weight classes

Let's just make an even 10 weightclasses in the UFC. :D

Flyweight (125)
Bantamweight (135)
Featherweight (145)
Lightweight (155)
Welterweight (170)
Middleweight (185)
Light Heavyweight (205)
Cruiserweight (230)
Heavyweight (265)
Super Heavyweight (400)

Okay.. getting into Super Heavyweight would be "freakshow" fights.. like the ones K-1 put on (not putting down K-1 at all.. I like K-1).. but I don't know if mainstream UFC fans would be ready for Bob Sapp vs. Hong Man Choi.

I'd love to have a 125 pound division, there are some guys who should be fighting there, but there isn't really the talent to have a flyweight class. It wouldn't be very deep.
