The new dark-horse of the Middleweight division, Strickland is an educated striker with killer instinct. He outpointed Jotko (#19) Saturday to earn his third victory in a row. An exciting personality with a warrior spirit;
WHO WILL STRICKLAND FIGHT NEXT?
1. Uriah Hall (#8) - With the Top 6 (Costa, Cannonier, Brunson, and Till) positioned to fight one another - Hall is standing just outside the ring of top contenders. He finished Weidman (#11) in seconds and sustained no damage one week ago at UFC 261. Since Hall is fresh, he may look to jump back in soon. Two super-talented strikers, #8 vs #15. Hall will earn his shot at the Top 5 with a win over Strickland, and Strickland would earn his spot in the Top 10. Are we gonna' get this shot?
2. Kelvin Gastelum (#9) - A fight with Gastelum is very likely. Although Gastelum lost to Whittaker, he did not suffer any serious injuries. In all likelihood he will be close to Vettori during his preparation for a title shot in June. That competitive energy may keep Kelvin in the fighting spirit, and eager to return in the summer. The fight makes sense, and would be very evenly matched. Will we get this fight next?
3. Kevin Holland (#13) - Holland is now on a 2-fight skid dropping decisions to Vettori and Brunson in the last 2 months. In both cases he was outwrestled and neutralized in the grappling. Although Strickland is a competent grappler, he relies more on his boxing to win. Brunson too, is a striker. Both have big mouths, and wild personalities. Both are built for war. Both are close in the rankings. But will Holland's team want this fight so soon after taking these losses? Will they encourage Brunson to build more wrestling skills before he returns? Will we see Holland vs Strickland next?
