This dude is tough, he has some great wins inside and outside of the octogon. He's knockout guys like Roy Nelson(Dos Santos couldn't), Ben Rothwell, Vladimir Matushenko, Paul Buentello and the list goes on. If he just builds himself up from the pace he's at right now, he'll be back with a contract. All he needs to do is train hard and not get hit on that not so great chin of his. I want to see Mir vs Arlovski, we were robbed of it years ago, due to Mir motorcycle accident. Would have loved to see Couture Vs. Arlovski.

Kind of sad to see Arlovski and Sylvia pressing on as their best days get further and further behind them.  Makes me feel old.  If they fight each other again, it'll be downright depressing.

Arlovski has slipped to the level of a prelim HW. Unfortunately really not that valuable to the UFC. He is much more valuable to orgs like Pro-elite that can use his name recognition to draw people to local shows and maybe put some people in the seats.

the funny thing is that once a fighter has reached a certain level of notoriety he has to do exceptionally well to stay in the ufc. Think about guys like Efrain escudero and Kendal Grove. Both in the spotlight from their tuf conquests, and both released from the ufc following losses. In my opinon these two are far and away better than a lot of fighters competing in the ufc currently, but with great notoriety comes great responsibility. Same goes for Arlovski

Arlovski is still a good MMA fighter. Problem is his chin is shot to hell (I'd even say it's worse then Wanderlei's chin) and even the most medicore of UFC HW would put him away. Guys like Lesnar, Overeem and JDS would probably knock his jaw off and make him look like Raziel from Legacy of Kain series.

yeah for reals, wanderlei has been knocked out by jackson once, and by leben once. Haaaaaardly reason to call for his retirement or to say that he has a glass jaw

Wanderlei had vicious wars in Pride, not to mention the training camp at Chute Boxe is said to be known to be quite brutal. His beating at the hands of Cro Cop and Henderson pretty much took years out of his fighting career. Honestly the Leban knockout convinced me his chin is gone.

The KO at the hands of Leben wasn't any more brutal or fast than the one at the hands of Belfort years ago. Silva's chin hasn't changed, its just that when a world class slugger hits the button, the lights go out

Leben is in no way a world class striker. Cro Cop is though and you do have a point. Except Cro Cop did huge amounts of damage to Wanderlei in their last match between the two, pretty much shaving Wanderlei's career by a good few years. Still thinking about it I would say Wanderlei's jaw is more weak then shot. Liddell would have been a better comparison ^_^

that's how come i said "slugger". Maybe he's not exceptional technically, but he has put a way a lot of high level dudes with those hands. Tell me no

Heh Dunno why I read it as Striker *shrugs* Still wouldn't say "world class". He just has a ton of heart and body that says "this will hurt in the morning but f*** it" and a style that takes it out of you.

Still would think the Wanderlei of old would have been able to go toe to toe with him in the pocket....Hmmmm..Cung le vs Chris Leben...That would be entertaining though maybe after the first round a bit one sided for Leben.

Leben doesn't have great technique standing outside and striking... see him vs Anderson Silva for all you need to know... but he's tough as nails, hits hard, and in his dirty boxing & clinch game is very good.

As for Wanderlei, he clearly gets knocked out more easily than he used to. He's had a lot of fights, been knocked out cold several times, and as @mysticalninja said, guys were also rumored to be knocked out all the time at Chute Boxe. It's safe to say Wandy has been KO'd 10+ times and maybe a ton more. He used to be able to wade forward like a monster and could take a good shot. Now every single blow from Cung Le looks like it might put him out.

I wouldn't mind seeing Arlovski in the UFC at all.  The dude always fights to excite, and even if he'll probably never make a title run again he'd be a great name on some contenders' resumes!

"he'd be a great name on some contenders' resumes!" He would have been about two years ago. Now he's become a punchline. He'd need some quality wins and not just any scrubs.for his name to matter again.

Wanderlei has the advantage of UFC hype though, thanks to the legend he became in Pride FC.
