I am always seeing different types of pictures on twitter of fighters and stuff so I thought I would start a thread where we could put them.

Here's one of the UFC press conference setup, pretty interesting place to do a press conference!

I am pleasantly surprised by this. I think they made the right decision giving cormier a lesser punishment, but disagree with the idea they can give out community service.

Barring a drastic turn of events, I suspect we just witnessed the official end of Wanderlei Silva's fighting career.

      For whatever it's worth and based on previous conversations with him, I expect Silva's lawyer Ross Goodman to appeal this.

I got 140 hours of community service for an obstruction of justice charge I pleaded no contest to. The judge who gave it to me was named John Marshall and was a real hard ass since every man in his family was probably a judge/lawyer for the past 250 damn years. I did 2 hours at the county dump and then begged my probation officer for anything else. She sent me to a Habitat for Humanity meeting in the basement of a Catholic church where I quickly realized I was the only ******** there who wasn't a volunteer. I spoke to the volunteer coordinator after the meeting and I did the remaining 138 hours at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in the ghetto Northside of Richmond, VA. I never got caught breaking the law again.

Well when you're clearly articulate then that is a ridiculous question.

Anywho; Wanderlei Silva doesn't need to pay that fine. Don't fines only matter if they plan on fighting in that region again? So if Wanderlei planned on fighting in Vegas again, he would need to pay the fine? If he's banned for life to fight in Vegas, he doesn't need to pay the commission anything. Even if he decides to come back and fight elsewhere.

UFC honors all NSAC rulings. They won't let him fight anywhere if he were to comeback. He's done, bro... he's done.

There's a **** ton of people in the world who speak the language just fine but can't read or write a lick. You'd be surprised. In regards to Wanderlei I'm pretty sure he's required to pay the fine as he was still a licensed fighter at the time of the offense. I'm not sure what the consequences would be if he didn't, a lawsuit he'd lose probably.

@CT

I am pretty sure Wanderlei was not licensed at the time. I am pretty sure that was his defense was that they had no right to drug test him because he was not even licensed at the time. Now that does not fly with the commission, so he will never fight again for the UFC most likely. However I am pretty sure if that went to court they would lose, since really from a legal stand point they have no right to fine him.

Here an article I found where his lawyer talks about it. Now assuming what his lawyer says is accurate, I can't see how that fine could hold up in court, in fact I think it might backfire on the commission if they persuade a lawsuit, but I am no lawyer so I could be mistaken.

@Franklin, I'm pretty sure NSAC rules determine that they're allowed to test you the minute you have a bout announced in Nevada, otherwise fighters would wait last minute and apply for licenses once they've cycled off, spending the most of their training camp juiced up to the teeth.

Either I'm wrong about that (I'm pretty sure I'm not, just not 100%) or Wand's Lawyer is dumber than him and missed this thing.

Other than that, he can try to fight this with technicalities until he's blue in the face, even if he catches them on a loophole it only means they'll be forced to drop the fine. As far as getting licensed in Nevada, they basically decide who and when. They can decide you've got an ugly face therefore won't be licensed in Nevada - or they can decide to do worse - they license him on a probation license and say that because he's considered a suspect user in their books they can test him every day. You think Wand can win a fight without juicing at this point? I don't.

His lawyer seems to think he can get off on technicalities, which I believe he will if it went to court for the fine, assuming what his lawyer said was accurate. I agree he has no chance of fighting again unless he makes good with the commission some how, which is extremely unlikely to happen.
