Season 2 is on tomorrow and I've seen alot of fellow tapologist's talking about it, so I figured it deserves a thread. Everyone better be ready to discuss tomorrow or you might get you brains ate!

Right? It was really great and intense up until Sophia went missing (and even a little after, Dale gutting a zombie? Um, yes please!). Then after that, it's like you forget that there was a zombie outbreak going on

I enjoyed the new episode alot, the little intro speech was a tad cheesy, but the rest of the show was awesome. Like t0rch said, MORE ZOMBIES...when Rick slammed that zombie in the head with the rock and bashed his face in, that **** was sick. I hope Shane doesn't leave too soon though, he might be my favorite character.

Haha Beast is a survivor.

As for the episode, I thought it was a strong start to the season. I'm interested to see how the pacing is with this season, since there are a total of 13 episodes compared to Season 1's 6 episodes.

I really like Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes. I think he looks the part and for the most part his acting is on point, but there have been a few times throughout the series, the opening to this episode being one of them, where he comes off a little hammy and where the Southern accent just doesn't sound convincing. Lincoln is British. For the most part, I thought the performances were great, especially Norman Reedus as Daryl (quickly turning into my favorite character) and an improved Laurie Holden as Andrea. I thought she was very weak in the first season.

Jon Bernthal was strong as always as Shane, one of the better characters, and Sarah Wayne Callies was less hatable as Lori Grimes.

I agree with everything you said skelliher, and yeah it'll be interesting to see how they do a 13 episode season, Stephen King was writing on some of the episodes right?

I hope not, @CashBrewyn.  They did that with SouthLAnd with the first couple of seasons.  I'm hoping for a full season for both shows.

I was some what right

from Wikipedia

"After the first seven episodes air, the series will go on hiatus, and then return on February 12, 2012, where the final six episodes of the season will begin airing"

so AMC will have Walking Dead and Hell on Wheels air on the same day for 4 weeks...sundays are brutal for tv

Nice!  Thirteen episodes sounds good to me.  That Hell on Wheels show looked pretty awesome judging by the previews I saw last night.

AMC has clearly taken the cake in the world of basic cable. It's basically the HBO of basic cable at this point, although I have to admit I'm relying solely on word of mouth from shows such as Breaking Bad and Mad Men. FX has some good stuff as well. I don't really watch TV aside from Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, and Spartacus on Starz.

@Swick: I hadn't heard about King writing episodes of the series, and I'm not inclined to believe it unless I see some rock-solid evidence, which I'm too lazy to look up myself. I wouldn't be too shocked, however, as he has a great creative relationship with former Walking Dead Executive Producer and Director Frank Darabont. Now that Darabont's out of the picture, I don't see King getting involved if he hasn't already.

Darabont was fired over a month ago. It caused quite a bit of drama to circulate on the interwebs, for those of us who keep up on that kind of news. According to Robert Kirkman (creator of the comic and writer/producer on the show) the change in Exec. Producer has not affected the show, since Darabont's co-producer, who was on the show with him from the beginning, stepped into the role and kept the production going seamlessly. Now if all of a sudden the show breaks down halfway through the second season and the directing and cinematography go down the tubes, this topic may be worth revisiting haha.
