Lol at Nik Lust saying this site has a bad taste in music. Saying people have bad taste in music is like saying people have bad taste in fighters. The **** is all opinion and opinions vary. There honestly is no "bad taste" just different opinions.

Its obviously my opinion. I clearly wrote " I felt like this website had bad taste in music" - dont need to scrutinize my comment.

Sorry the comment was just bothering me because I hear a lot of people calling different genres bad which always perplexed me. I wasn't trying to attack you it was more I was trying to dispel the comment. I have just never understood what defines bad music. x.x

Obviously its completely subjective - and there is no fact, but there is a rough consensus. Ive played in Punk/Hardcore/Death metal/Noisecore/metalcore bands - Ive also had my own solo folk project, and now I produce house music, so I'm pretty open to everything. I do have a problem with most rap, as the beats are usually produced by someone else and the lyrics are meaningless. I know there are exceptions, so (people) dont bombard me with rap artists I dont know. Talking about cars and woman, while talking fast over a beat you didnt even make - juxtaposed to a band that took years to learn music theory and their instrument, then crafting their own songs with their own lyrics just has different meaning to me.

^ Rap lyrics are meaningless.....TO YOU. And not all the songs are about Cars and Women...but then again what are Punk/Hardcore/Metal/Noisecore lyrics about?

@niklust Also playing in "Punk/Hardcore/Death metal/Noisecore/Metalcore bands" doesn't say you're open to everything...actually it's pretty similar and in one group.

Rick Ross - Billionare lyrics
This song is about.. being a billionare???
Trilllaaaaa...
BOSSSS
Yeah, trilla, feels good baby
BOSSSS,
I done took over the game *****,
Hoppin' out the Bugatti with my Ballys on
No underwear *****, my jeans tight fitted to *****
Jay-Z wuddup nigg !
Uh, yeah
Let me f**k with 'em right now

Elysia - Incinerate lyrics (Deathcore)
This song is about male hate and insecurities towards ****sexuals
In the end you will be laid to rest where you belong.
bathed in the flames for your hatred and your ignorance. Your the symbol of masculinity, but I can beat king kong.
I will stand up for those who have suffered, been crucified by your insecurities
The voice that I've been given I will use to crush bigotry and defeat intolerance. With bodies ablaze  Sadly no one's there to push you in the flames.
Who's the ****** now?

Spiderguard - i know, I said there are exceptions, but exceptions dont account for the utter garbage thats sensationalized and accepted. I know what good lyricism is, thats why I hate 90% of the crap thats put out there. Now, I'm sure you can find me some metalcore bands that have stupid lyrics but they arent sensationalized and mainstream and accepted like lil ******* weezy.

The problem is there is crap in all genres of music - but for me, at least people in the type of music I like, play their instruments and make their own music.

While I somewhat agree with you on rap I've always respected that there must be some type of talent to it or no one would listen to it. For the most part listening to monotone voices cite lyrics turns me off to it, but I've always view it like someone reciting a poem to music or beat in the background. Since I grew up listening to Rock (pretty much every genre of it) I enjoy rock more than others. You go to Europe and most people in their 20's to 30's would tell you they enjoy electronica/house/rap/rock or at least that is what I experienced while I lived there, but you could go to India and people have an entirely different perception of music (no clue how to describe it). You can actually go back to ancient Greece and their chants that they do for their plays are actually similar to rapping or that is how I viewed it.

The only other problem I have with rap is the same problem you have in that the popular songs/artists for the most part talk about stuff that honestly doesn't matter, but that is why people look deeper into genres to find those gems. African tribes have had a form of music similar to rapping as well for generations so I feel it's been an accepted form of music throughout history.

@NikLust Go listen to Kramer by Wale...actually I'll just give it to you right now.

You wanna talk about meaning...It's pretty funny because it pretty much addresses your stereotypical view of rap/hip-hop.

And BTW @ Spiderguard I actually love Big L. Put it on is easily one of my favorite hip hop songs. Like I said 1) there are exceptions - I'm generalizing rap music. 2) you dont need to link me to wale, lupe fiasco, immortal technique.. I dont care.

Ive been an advocate about talent being unique to each style of music. Rapping is certainly not easy. But neither is killing 25 people without getting caught.
