We all mentioned when Snyder lost...nobody seemed to notice he exacted his revenge on Coon, at the B1G Championships.

Also, reminder that the NCAAA Championships are coming

With all of these wrestlers mentioned, which do you think has the best chance of fighting in the ufc?

My guesses vs what happened and original seed of all qualifying All-Americans

My guesses vs what happened and original seed of all qualifying All-Americans. How wrong I was:

125:
1-Suriano (RUT)                (3) Lee
2-Tomasello (OHST).         (4) Suriano

Wouldn’t be shocked if Gravina (RUT), Zavatsky (VT) or Foster  (UNI) place. Crap shoot after top 3.

@rappinsoda that’s always a good question. Most of these better guys will try to wrestle a bit longer in international comp.  Most these guys wrestle freestyle and some Greco as well.   Also a lot of these guys are set up pretty well with coaching jobs, making decent coin, without kicking themselves.

It will probably be a few years before most who will make the move will. Snyder has expressed interest but after another decade or so of wrestling.

Retherford just made the world team.   Like I said before, that’s what Picos decision so interesting. The kid was 6-0 vs Retherford before going to MMA full time. I hope we see more of that.

Seniors in the tournament who I think would do well:
125- Tomasello, national champ as freshman and 4x all American who is 1extremely powerful and explosive, takedown machine, who’d likely dictate where the fight takes place who is a beast in clinch.

Cruz- 3x tournament qualifier, 2x all-American and 1x National champion. He’s extremely quick and athletic.

Bresser, is I think 2x PAC 10champ and All American. I only really seen him at end tournaments a few years. He’s def a tough kid. A bit awkward style.

133:  Gross is jr but he’s a long light guy who’s strong for his build but really uses his length well grappling wise. He’s got sick top control and is very hard to take down and control.

Delvecchio outta Rutgers finally all-Americans after making tournament 3x. Gritty tough hard nosed style I think his grit would take him far.

141:  Meredith, Kevin Jack and Heil.   Jack is a crafty and unorthodox. Meredith is simply good everywhere and Heil is strong as **** but made a career winning close matches. It won him national championships his sop****re and jr year, including 55 straight and undefeated jr year but backfire due this year. He lost 8x didn’t place and his lack of output became too predictable.

149: Retherford has awesome foot movement and is pinning scoring juggernaut but doesn’t seem interested and is on world team

Sorensen (IowA), Perry (LH), Tsirtsis and Heilmann would all be solid LWs

157: Nolf is jr but is ******* workhorse and simply scoring machine

LaValle from Missouri laid egg in tournament but he’s pretty athletic I think he’d transition well.

165: Martinez for obvious reasons

174:  Bo Jordan, Subjeck and Lewis

184: Nickal is jr but he’d be ******* sick

Gravina from RUT didn’t place but been in tournament a few times and his gritty tough kid.

Aubanader has been I. Tournament a few times and finally placed. Strong fundamentals and lots of heart.

197:  Haught, Smith, Miklus, Machiavellio are obvious but how about Coner who got 3 coming out of the pigtails. He quit wrestling at one point. When he’s determined he’s scary and explosive finisher.

285: Snyder but as LHW

Coon would have to drop another 20lbs but is like going to be N astronaut. Freakishly big and athletic.

I don’t like Cuke but Kasper another big athletic guy. Could probably hurt people.

Dhesi is ever improving and a powerhouse explosive big man.

Being Greco is predominantly clinch work, upper body attacks, with no leg or ground work, I feel it’s become the worse suited style for MMA. Which, IMO , is why you see a lot of Americans and world freestyle wrestlers (Romero/DC) the most successful, in recent years. Not that being a beast in Greco doesn’t help. It simply doesn’t have the diversity of takedowns, TDD, ground control and escaping from the ground. As far as escaping from the ground folk style is, IMO, the strongest. Obviously you need to polish your sub D either way. Though freestyle may be the most diverse offensively.

Personally I hope Nickal, DeSanto and Bryce Meredith transition into MMA. But realistically every single 1 of them could be successful.

@MassaBruce, Austin DeSantos announced he’s transferring today. Looks like PSU, Iowa, Rutgers or Arizona from what I hear. Word is Sanderson already gave a call. I think he’d be great in Penn State.

Sounds like he knows he needs better guys to roll with daily to achieve the top level. Smart, IMO, even though Drexel is local for me.

Funny, if he went to Iowa, he’d roll with Spencer Lee daily, who is now a true freshman national champion as of this year. Yet, he only got second, to DeSantos, in PA state finals his senior HS season, last year.

Any of those schools would be great for DeSanto imo. That's awesome.
