Absolutely crazy that Thiago Alves is not even a year older than Zak Cummings. I feel like Pitbull is 300 years old.

Surprised that people are just leaning towards Alves. I wouldn't be hugely surprised if he won but he is smaller, older, more miles on the clock, I'd back Cummings as the better grappler and Alves is painfully inconsistent.

Yeah, I was shocked to see so many people picking Thiago.

I got Zak outworking him and mixing up en route to a competitive decision win.

Cummings is definitely better than he gets credit it for, but Alves at his best, was waaaay better than Cummings has ever been. It's a hard one to call.

cummings is underrated because he lost to ranked guys like gunnar and ponzi, but he has comfortably handled all other ufc competition. he has less miles and a big height/reach advantage. probably more durable too. i guess i just don't trust alves to put together a win streak after a few years of minimal activity.

I remember when Alves was almost unstoppable. Now almost everyone doubts him.

Yeah he was unstoppable in a different era. Back we he was 195-200 lbs of solid muscle cutting weight fighting at 170 lbs. That era ended a while ago now. Now he is lucky if he makes it to the ring.

Thiago Alves has powerful leg kicks and good timing on the counter, but tends to over-extend his punches and is fighting a southpaw - against whom his leg kicks become less conducive. Zak, on the other hand, can set up his shots well with feints and jabs, but has little to no head movement with his chin up. Zak is the pick, for he has the significant reach advantage over Alves that he knows how to use. Alves will miss his shots more often than he will land, and even the ones landed won't do enough to Zak's strong chin.

Well that sucks. Alves was good to go ready to fight, was winning the battle to get into the ring, and his opponent gets injured.

Yea, apparently Zak slipped and hit his head on a handrail while coming out of the hot tub during his weight cut. He had to get stitches.
