Yet another outrageous statement from K1 Shields. 

Wow is Masvidal somehow wins it'd really shake up Melendez's career right before he heads over to UFC.  With that being said, Melendez ko/tko round 4.

I wouldnt be surprised to see Masvidal win. Hes a great fighter.

Going with the champ on this one, I think if he beats Masvidal pretty convincingly he is headed for the UFC

has there ever been a title fight that feels like such a huge mismatch? maybe im wrong, maybe masvidal will win...but i dont see him getting out of the 1st with a motivated champ like gil across the cage

Id say this will be Gilberts toughest test to come yet and a more well rounded fighter for him to face than some of his past competition.... Masvidal averages 4 to 5 Takedown attempts every 15 minutes in his fights.He also lands punches at a very high rate... Gilbert has a more brawling approach with his sometimes awkward stance holding his lead hand down really low at times, While Masvidal uses a more technical striking approach... They are very similar in that most of their wins come either by KO or go to DEC and both only have one submission win. Both of them don't really fight with gameplans they both said it in interviews I've seen... All I got to say is if Gilbert comes out wild, Masvidal can catch him.... Melendez has been rocked before and I definitely could see the upset happening... The only good competition he's fought is Aoki and Guida(which was 4 years ago or so), Also on Melendez's record theres 3 different guys he's fought twice.... Masvidal has fought some good names as well.  A very interesting fact is that 5 out of 6 losses of Masvidal's fights were late notice fights with a tiny span between his last... (3 of them a month or less span, which means they were extremely late notice) So that seems pretty significant to the deflation of his record. Cant wait to see this fight, but right now I'm gonna go with the upset! Masvidal TKO or most likely a super close DEC

Going with Melendez for now, but I really want to change it. I was swayed by popular opinion in Masvidal's last fight and took Noons, and again you guys are making me lean towards Melendez. I don't like picking such heavy underdogs but I have a really strong feeling Jorge is going to win. I'm torn...going with the safe pick for now, although I might change.

i agree with you. i think masvidal is a live dog but will go with the safe bet. if you win that you will win the extra 1000 dollars in the MMA wagering game your in. new rule we put in this week. biggest ML winner gets 1000 dollars extra.

Gil proves once again that he should be fighting in the UFC.

I think Masvidal is good enough to keep it engaging for all 5 rounds, but I don't think there we be any doubt as to who actually wins the rounds.
