This may not be true, but will Goldberg be done after 207? I really hope it won't be Jim Rome replacing him. If anything I would love for a rotating group of fighters to fill in. Give Bas, Frank, Dom, and DC a chance to commentate on different ppv's or even on the same event but different fights. I just don't want him replaced with a huge ****** and I believe that Jim Rome is a huge ****** (and I know he was one of the first "main stream" media guys to cover the sport).

I hope this back fires like crazy on them. Honestly the more i learn about UFC as a business and the new owners, the more I want them to fail. I want them to fail, so that the fighters/employees get way more leverage.

Not sure who's gonna replace him, Anik is terrible. They need a good regular commentator to go along with Joe's color commentary. Too bad Mauro is only doing wrestling and kickboxing.

@mikeyg

Yeah I forgot about Mauro as someone that I would enjoy. I didn't mind Goldberg. He was a dork, but he was our dork. I actually enjoy listening to fighters when they are doing commentary. I just hope it's someone with experience in the fight business. I don't want to sit there getting worked up over nothing because the commentator has less knowledge about mma than me. I would hate it if they just got a hype man in there. Dom is great at commentary and I enjoy listening to Dan Hardy as well. Frank was good in the WEC too. I know it won't happen, but I enjoyed Randy's commentary.

I guess my point is, anyone but Jim Rome.

My top choices are Dominick Cruz and Frank Mir.

something need to be done to combat delerion

They have gone too far ... Mike "voice of God' Goldberg is one of the last comer stones holding this racket of a promotion together. Look at Kenny Florian ? How about a pitch fork army for Kenny ?
Lose Mike ? And you might as as well start ________ needles in ____ ____ ( unclean ones )
if Mike "the spectator" Goldberg is scorned by the new UFC "Oceans 11" brass, I will be forced to hurt myself

Damn. Goldberg wasn't perfect, but his "Goldieisms" were a beloved part of the UFC community. He'll be missed by a lot of us, myself included. If you look at the response to Helwani's tweet, most people are angry at the possibility of him having been let go.

Like MBach said, he was a dork, but he was our community's dork. I'll miss all the "Virtually identical," "Here. We. Go!," "Just like that! It is ALL OVERRR!" and other things he'd say.

I don't think Anik is the UFC's plan to replace Goldberg. Apparently Dana White has been searching for someone specifically, as suggested by this Helwani tweet.

As for guys like Dom, DC, Mir, etc., wouldn't they be more likely to take over for Joe Rogan as color analysts rather than play-by-play?

Goldie is unique, as Joe Rogan once put it, he's unintentionally funny. and his trade mark opening introductions and live side promoting was really good in my opinion. He has done a great job overall.

He will be missed, we should wish him success in his future positions & endeavors.

I'll have to read up on it more to find out the exact details, but I'm wondering if he is completely moving on from the UFC or will be moved around within.

Unintentionally funny is nice way of saying stupid. Not saying he is, he most definitely isn't, but you'd like to think that a guy who's been play-by-play for a sport for so long would actually come anywhere close to really understanding it. Neither he, nor Rogan go any deeper than the simplest of "isms" when talking about the sport. The only reason we like them is nostalgia. We've shared so many great moments with them, so they're like the family's drunk uncle. Good for a laugh on family BBQ, but no one wants to hang out with him afterwards.

Rogan's a pretty cool and smart dude, which is why I can never understand how limited his approach to the sport is after being balls-deep into it for 2 decades.

I like them both, but I think they're both far from irreplaceable.

It's going to be weird watching Joe without Goldberg, They were an iconic duo lol... I'd have to agree with Zarog I want Cruz or Mir.

I think Goldie's demeanor/ personality handles his criticism and unintentionally funny moments well. There's a tone in his voice that moves people and gets them that added excitement for the events. There is a lot of truth to what you say, Joe can be such a nut huger sometimes it's really annoying... but the duo is as you said nostalgic and iconic by way of being part of our UFC experiences for so long.
