It seems that it was after he broke news of the Lesnar fight as well as maybe Nate/Conor II. 

Honestly, this is absolute ********. As a journalism student, this really pisses me off. Helwani was just doing his job as a REPORTER, and is one of the best in the business.

Dana is a ******* childish ****.  Like I have said before, and dtrain said in this thread, Helwani is a REPORTER.  He's not the company's ******* mouthpiece.  So what he ruined the surprise of Lesnar coming back at 200?  It's not like it will up the buy rate worth a damn.  Plus, Lesnar hasn't fought for over 5 years due to his body degrading after surviving diverticulitis.  Who are they going to have him fight?  The UFC can really be unprofessional sometimes, and this is a clear sign of unprofessional behavior by Dana and company.

Come on Green Hornet how do you know it's Dana? It could be Lorenzo who is being a childish ****. 

@Bigj  Because Dana is the President of the UFC, which means he is the one handling most of the day to day operations.  Furthermore, he is the only one of the three who has a vindictive attitude towards people.  Look at how he has handled situations like the Stitch Duran firing, GSP's retirement after UFC 167, the contract negotiations with Fedor, and the Loretta Hunt fiasco.  In contrast, Lorenzo has been very diplomatic in how he handles situations.

Now, should it come out that it is Lorenzo that had final say on this, I will say that he is the one that should get criticized for this.  But as of right now, based on past patterns of history, this looks like Dana White throwing a ***** fit and strong arming the MMA Press like a mafia boss yet again, all because they were doing their ******* job.

I think Lorenzo is playing you badly. Dana is the perfect front man. Lorenzo agree's with 99% of what Dana does.  It a good cop, bad cop routine and they have it down perfectly.  Lorenzo is a shrewd and ruthless business man. Don't fall for the nice guy act, I guarantee he was just as in favor of this as Dana White.

**** the UFC, I'm happy that my UFC boycott back when the Reebok deal happened is being justified. Stop supporting tthese *********s, the UFC is worse than boxing.

@Greenhornet If Lorenzo disagreed with what happened it would be corrected immediately. Sure Dana is the president but Lorenzo is the CEO. Part of Dana's job is to take **** for the Fertitas decisions.  Anytime he does something they don't agree with he has to publicly apologize, which isn't very often. 

This was absolutely Lorenzo's call. Dana doesn't make those calls.

Riding a fine line here. I fully support what Ariel has done and continues to do with his scoops and the UFC had it coming after the way he was let go from FOX.

But, I'd hate to see Ariel's career follow the path of another great journalist, at least he was back in the day, Josh Gross. He was initially scolded for turning down a job at UFC.com and later lambasted even worse than Helwani for consistently bringing up several controversial topics like free agency, amongst other things not involving the actual fight. It even got to the point that Dana banned Sherdog as a whole for a while so why wouldn't they do something similar again?

The good side of this is the social media and MMA media presence is much, much more today than it was 10 years ago. I mean since Helwani was let go by Fox he's been on the Dan Patrick show three times (including his piece this morning) AND in studio at the Rich Eisen show. Lots of press coming for all of this :)

Helwani confirmed on the DP show that it was Lorenzo's decision to give him the boot. His tone was very frustrated, I'm hoping he drops the gloves on the MMA Hour today and just lets it all out from top to bottom.

I remember Josh Gross reported the finale for a season of TUF before the show had even aired which was pretty much it for him as far as the UFC was concerned.
