UFC champ Jon Jones is entering a drug rehabilitation program after testing positive for cocaine metabolites. Full story coming shortly.

From what I understand the test was "out of competition" per the WADA code, so no suspension/fine/result overturned for Jones.

If drugs were legal we would take the power cartels and drug lords have out of their hands. And greatly reduce death, and crime among the innocent. There would be no drug crime, and there would be no further deaths due to drugs.
Portugal is a great example, after decriminalization for only 10 years drug abuse is down by half and only dropping. I suggest you read this article and spread the word. The key to saving lives is in our hands

Rehab is the classic "Hollywood star busted" PR spin move, it makes everything better.
I personally have absolutely no issues with him doing it (nor the weed smokers), but I still think he should be held to the same standards as everyone else. 9 months suspension. Don't know what the norm is for stripping titles with out of competition recreational drug abuse is, I personally don't think title stripping is in order, but the fine and suspensions need to be in place.

I couldn't give two ****s about recreational drug use in my athletes.
However, I DO care when the NSAC tests Jones during training camp, gets his results on December 24, then does nothing. No announcement, no nothing. If this was any other fighter (Guillard, as Ben pointed out), that would not be the case. The fact of the matter is, Jones was set to bring a ton of money to Vegas on January 3. Releasing the news of his positive test on January 5 is ridiculous, especially since these tests are supposedly for the health and safety of the fighters. Even if you can't hand out an official punishment for Jones using coke during training camp, you can't just back off and not say anything about a potentially dangerous, illegal substance your headliner is using while training for a fight.
BTW, I see a lot of ppl complaining about out-of-competition vs. in-competition. Fact of the matter is, the WADA code states that in-competition for MMA means within 12 hrs of the fight. If Jones's post-fight test comes back with cocaine, he will be punished. Right now, they literally cannot punish him.
Now, another huge issue I have with the whole situation is the way the UFC has (not) handled it. It reeks of hypocrisy, but we all knew that already. Surely this violated their fighter code of conduct policy, a policy that saw Pat Healy lose $70k in bonuses for smoking weed. Jones received a $50k bonus Saturday night, and it doesn't appear to be going anywhere.

But I agree with you in that Jones is not addicted and the rehab is just for shows.
