Why is it that the NFL is breeding good fighters? You have Matt Matrione, Brandon Shaub, Hershel Walker, Marcus Jones, and etc.....WHY?

Athleticism is a huge factor in MMA and I think really allows you to pick it up much quicker.

@danno hit the nail right on the head... i think as the sport conitnues to gain notoriety and mainstream acceptance, we will see more athletes from different sports cross over.

don't forget college football players too. OSP played for oklahoma state and pete spratt i think played at tennessee and shawn jordan played at lsu. those guys all fought this weekend too. they went 2-1 and jordan had a tough opponent and represented well.

The Competitive Spirit is what I think it has to do with it along with the with fact they can last a lot longer in MMA in my opinion than any other sport....if they do well that is.

Along with what has already been said about natural athleticism, a lot of NFL teams are starting to incorporate mma trainer and mma style drills into their workouts. It was all over the news and sportscenter last season

Football is a violent game and you have to be wired a little different to play past high school...MMA is a violent sport and you have to be wired a little different to want to get hit in the face...Maybe the wiring is the same!!
