As much as Akira has improved since appearing on TUF, Poirier's going to submit him via armbar/triangle choke/d'arce choke.

Poirier's legit and maybe to much for Akira to soon.

I.thought Poirier would lose to Koch and Brand. For whatever reason I think Poirier knocked out Oliveira but I  think they.ever  actually fought. You could cut Akira though, he's.not very good. Poirier gets the finish in the first two rounds Id think or a 15 minute ass throttling.

@buffalo, on your request, here are the 29 UFC 145ers I have ranked above Akira, tell me which one of them he should be ranked above and I'll gladly discuss my reasons for not ranking him above them:

José Aldo
Chad Mendes
Frankie Edgar
Ricardo Lamas
Kevin Swanson
Chan-Sung Jung
Dustin Poirier
Jeremy Stephens
Clay Guida
Tatsuya Kawajiri
Nik Lentz
Dennis Siver
Darren Elkins
Hatsu Hioki
Conor McGregor
Diego Brandão
Dennis Bermudez
Charles Oliveira
Steven Siler
Manny Gamburyan
Cole Miller
Hacran Dias
Rony Bezerra
Max Holloway
Tom Niinimäki
Rani Yahya
Marcus Brimage
Jimy Hettes
Mike Brown

Tell you the truth, it'd be easier to persuade me to rank him lower than higher though. I have better fighters ranked under him, but I rank according to what they've done and not what I think they can do.

EDIT:: FYI, these are my personal rankings, I don't update my Tap rankings a lot (though, I think I should), I just have an excel sheet I use for UFC rankings and fight tracking ... it helps me with my picks (went up from 56% before Autumn comp. to around 78-80% picking UFC since I've been using it :) )

Well Yahya left the division but Felipe Arantes is better so just switch them out? Kevin Souza is better.too, he's a ******* monster you guys.remember that.name. Id rank Choi ahead of him too, just because he's in the UFC now.

@Nomad, I know, I keep the guy in the division until he fights at his new division to avoid moving him back and forth if the fights end up cancelled ... I don't rank a guy who hasn't fought in a division even if he's signed (since they're UFC rankings not global), I have a separate section for that ... you should see the sheet man, it's a glorification of my OCD if I've ever seen one :)

As for Felipe (and also Maximo, Choi, Pineda, Menjivar, Kevin Souza, Fili, Soriano), I think he's better than Akira, but Akira's 3-0 UFC record against not bad competition ranks him temporarily above him in my books (the draw with Milton Viera didn't help matters either) ... I try to stay as impartial as I can when ranking ...

Again, these are just my rankings, nothing concrete, I was just trying to show ol' ben how easy it would be to find 25 guys better than Akira ... I think that point was clearly maken and will be hard to dispute since you're giving me a lot of names that could be argued as better than him but I haven't heard any the should be ranked under him yet :)))

This is why I love yossgold. He strengthens his argument instead of resorting to personal insults. Something that admitedly i do myself.

You convinded me yoss, all those guys deserve to be ranked higher than Akira right now. I would like to see how he stacks up against anyone in the siler-brimage range of yoru list. No way he beats poirier, but i think he could beat a lot of guys towards the bottom of your list.

I have him 27th. Niinimaki and Hettes are the only 2 you have listed that I don't have ranked ahead of Akira and I'll probably put both ahead of Akira assuming Niinimaki wins his next fight and as long as Hettes is competitive with Bermudez.. And I have Pineda and Grice just ahead of him to make him 27th since I have both Brimage and Yahya already at BW but believe me I understand when it comes to keeping track.

Anyone watch the weigh ins? Someone was saying on twitter Akira took a swipe at Poirier? Bad idea to add more motivation to an already motivated fighter!

I'm not sure I've ever seen a UFC fighter 2% picked the day before the fight. Half of those 2% are likely award hunting.

Since joining the UFC, Dustin Poirier is 7-2. Those 2 losses coming from Swanson and Zombie. And he had a competitive fight with both of them. Corassani is 3-0 with his biggest win being over Blanco via DQ 20 seconds in to the fight. Not to mention the fact he should have lost to Ogle.

This is just an odd matchup. Makes no sense.

Dustin vs Conor McGregor would be an awesome match up although I'd like to see Dustin get a title shot after this win.

I can't imagine anyway that this fight is competitive. Poirier is younger and has significant reach advantage.
