Apparently, Sonnen is making his comeback at 205 lol. I really hope this isn't a troll attempt. Would love to see Machida whoop on him.

Yes, his 1st UFC run at 205 wasn't so hot. He got subbed twice and won a boring decision over Prangley.

Machida would mangle him. Lyoto has no wrestling deficiencies to exploit.

Sonnen looks huge in recent photos, and has talked a lot of **** about Machida and Brazil in general. I love this match up.

Machida would make Sonnen look like a fool especially after all the trash talk he's going to do.

I doubt Sonnen could get a hold of Machida to take him down.

lol There's a couple of threads on this, but I'll just copy and paste my reply to the other thread.
Chael hasn't won a decisive win since like 2007. The only reason why he has so much limelight is because of his mouth.
Machida is ever evolving and the Randy fight he wasn't back peddling. He was actually circling more and staying close. He wasn't doing as much backing up as he usually does. I believe he tried things differently with his stance as well if I recall. He's always working on his game.....Chael without even the peds would eventually get rocked or submitted. You can't tell me he'd tko Machida who has the most under rated ground game...
Machida>Anderson's jits. I honestly believe Machida has better jiu jitsu than Anderson. That's just my humble opinion.
Chael wouldn't be able to stay in full guard long enough to be able to do anything and definitely wouldn't be able to pass that guard. He'd get subbed so fast. Even if he gets Machida down it'll be too hard to keep him down. You have to remember Machida has a sumo background and is a very good grappler.
Chael is predictable and the only person that has figured out Machida is Shogun because of their styles. Rampage didn't figure him out....neither did Randy. Rampage was just doing what he does best and Machida didn't pull the trigger till the 3rd round...
Randy comes up with the best game plans and couldn't solve the puzzle. Because Machida has evolved slightly since his last fight.
Machida has the potential to beat anyone in that division. The only one that he'll always have a problem with is Shogun, and Jon Bones Jones is just a very hard fight to pick between Machida and JBJ.
Other than that Machida can beat every fighter in that division.

This fight I'm so excited for. I'm surprised there isn't a ball sack imprint on Sonnens chin from all the triangles he's had locked on him over the years. I don't like Chael and I'll freely express it.

lol. @Danno. I find it funny you know how many minutes haha.
I honestly thought Sonnen was joking with having a tune up fight against Machida.

There is no way Fail Sonnen beats Machida. This is MMA and he does have a chance, but I'm willing to bet anyone he doesn't get his hands raised at the end of this fight with Machida.
It'd be a friendly bet of course. I want to redeem the one I lost against Gregory.

@CashBrewyn:  Screw that!  Machida needs to get with Sensei Seagal.  Sonnen wouldn't have a chance.

@BodyModifier "Chael hasn't won a decisive win since like 2007"

Did you see his fights aginst Marquadt, Okami, Miller, or his rematch with Filho? Those are very DECISIVE wins. Now I'm not a big fan of Chael  not finishing, but those are dominant wins regardless.

For some reason I never even considered it a win. This might sound very stubborn...Nate can't defend any shot from anyone with a take down like Chael. Call me very stubborn but I don't think highly of Chael at all, and before those fights it was back in 2007. Haven't all of those fights been to decision. I may be discrediting Chael, but I think he's the most one dimensional fighter in the sport.
The only other dimension to add to him is his mouth. He's going to lose to Machida unless Sonnen is still under Ped's and has hulk strength to donkey kong Lyoto through the canvas.

I completely agree, only I wouldn't even give him credit if he is on roids, he went 4 1/2 rounds with silva and only out wrestled him I saw no evidence that he could throw a good punch. Lyoto  will front kick Chaels teeth out.
