Philippou vs. Carmont

Really looking forward to this fight for some reason I think it's going to be a great display of skills by both men. 

I feel like they are very similar in skill. Carmont struggled his last 2 fights, but he's still Costas toughest opponent for sure. This is a great fight, stylistically and it makes sense for the division, pretty close to each other on the rankings. Gonna go with Costa, but Carmont can beat him if the stars align just right lol

carmont is gonna win this without even working up a sweat. it  will be a bigger beating then the larkin fight .

Want Carmont to get beat so badly after getting gifted 2 decision wins over Larkin and Lawlor, but I don't think Philippou is the guy to do it. Costa has good box and TDD but I can see Carmont keeping a comfortable striking distance for himself using his good kickbox. 

@gunn you jokin' about the Larkin fight, rite?

@cal1 no joke at all man . i have no idea why people think larkin won . lawlor i can see but larkin no way . actually one of my most thumbed down comments is sayin how i thought he won lol .

I thought Larkin won, but I don't think I was as surprised as everyone else that they gave the fight to Carmont. Lackluster fight anyone.

Moderate favorite for Costa, but i think Carmont has some chances to get a win. Carmont has a good reach and his skills to sub are Top.

Philippou should be the quicker fighter & he should able to avoid any take downs. His striking will be sharper & will trouble Carmont

You have to break down this fight on how these two match-up stylistically. Yes, Costa faced higher level of opposition and Carmont got controversial decisions. Obviously, he’s doing something right in the judges’ eyes.

Carmont always brings a smart gameplan. He tends to keep the fight competitive before getting a late takedown to steal rounds. Kinda like Davis did to Machida. Judges LOVE guys who get takedowns AND end up in top position in the end.

Philippou has a very solid takedown defence and will likely stuff Carmont’s takedown attempts. But if this is going to be a fight where Carmont shoves Philippou against the cage the whole time, he may be able to eventually wear Costa down and get a takedown in the latter stages of the rounds, therefore sealing a 10-9 Carmont scorecard in the judges’ eyes.

If Carmont has one thing going for him, it's tough striking defense and takedown defense. He's lanky and the way he switches stances makes him hard to hit with punches. He seems to get hit by leg kicks, but Costa mostly boxes. Carmont is also very big and strong for the division so although Philippou is a monster himself, he won’t be the stronger man in this fight like when he took on McGee and Hamman.

Costa is on a different level, he wont give Carmont a chance to steal another decision.

Carmont is amazingly overrated and has gotten lucky in his past fights...Costa will put him away before the decision though, no worrying about the BS judges this time.

While I could see Carmont getting another lucky decision, I think I'll take Costa to play it safe.

Carmont won't escape this one.
